Is the J41 which has been in hanger one at DTVA since December broken or stored?

Wellington Bomber 21st Jan 2009 13:15

It is stored

DTVAirport 21st Jan 2009 16:15

Tech actually, its been doing engine runs recently over on the south side.

airhumberside 21st Jan 2009 17:38

Angers has been removed from the Eastern website, so I presume it is axed

mmeteesside 21st Jan 2009 17:48

Looks as if there are 3 J41's stored, 1 at Durham Tees (G-MAJG) since 24th Dec, G-MAJE (2nd Jan), MAJX (10th Dec) at Humberside. At least they haven't flown since those dates so one would assume they are stored.

Air Humberside

Indeed - it appears the LBA aircraft now sits in SOU for several hours with nothing to do. A possible opportunity or a further schedule review in the pipeline??
Then again, in the current climate Eastern may be happy for it to sit there - perhaps the route makes sense in the peak hours but the leisure market gets cornered by Flybe.

Rolavia 22nd Jan 2009 12:05

Correct Angers is axed... with the current economic climate loads have suffered during the winter season !!!!Perharps the route will return as a seasonnal summer service for 2009...who know's what is the mind of RL:ok:!

.

G-MAJG departed MME today. Looks like it went to NCL and is back in service?

Jetstream 41 in Romania

Hi,

Three J41 will soon start to operate in Romania for a Romanian operator.

Does anybody know pilots who are willing to fly here, at least for a while?

Thanks,

ExtraR

It will be interesting to see what strategy Eastern come up with in the next 12-18 months. They appear to be selling off some of the J41's and picking up more saab 2000's as they can.

However seen as they have a large fleet of 41's, most of the spares, the simulator and alot of expertise with the type its difficult to see them replacing it altogether..

Whats happening with the London City slots as well. All is quiet on that front..

frankdjs 25th Jan 2009 18:29

Wasn't Eastern going to launch flights on the 5th of Jan. so what happend?

j41cac 28th Jan 2009 21:04

Possibly leasing them to someone else for a price, if thats allowed. If so, RL is a clever chap.

iwhak 28th Jan 2009 21:06

Heard the oil workers haven't taken too kindly to the Saabs.

jamestkirk 28th Jan 2009 21:14

oil workers

Not sure where you heard that.

So far they seem very happy with the aircraft and service offered by the staff.

j41cac 28th Jan 2009 21:24

There is nothing wrong with the Saab or staff. Give them a break it was thrown on them at the last minute, so hats off to Eastern and their crews.:ok:

Eastern looking at stepping into BMIs hole with Durham Tees -STN.:ok:

N707ZS 21st Feb 2009 21:10

Saab or J41? Bet it won't be cheap.

Saab or J41? Bet it won't be cheap.

No, it probably won't be, but I'd wager it won't be anymore than BMI would charge in the same economic environment.
The Eastern business model has always been to be as competitive as any other airline or first class rail travel, that's why they've been so successful and so popular.

Skipness One Echo 22nd Feb 2009 20:28

Still got another hour on the train into Liverpool St at least. I'd give it six months as there's no connectivity.

pug 23rd Feb 2009 12:01

I dont see how it would work going into STN, it wont be cheap and though it would be for the business user i dont think STN offers that client what they want.

If it does get replaced i would think it more likely to be a LGW link wioth FlyBE though even that could be unlikely considering their NCL services.

Im with Skipness, if it does happen give it one season, it didnt even work at MAN.
