SilsoeSid 12th Sep 2008 19:13

Just amazed in all the news reports the amount of children on holiday at the moment!

Hope the truancy people are watching! ;)

Best wishes to those caught out. :(

So, is Mr Wyatt involved in Kiss Air ??
Good question.

40612 12th Sep 2008 19:41

If XL France and XL Germany were sold last night, then questions need to be asked. I'm pretty certain that the whole sorry saga will start to come together over the following weeks and months.

At this time, my thoughts are with the XL UK staff, who without their hard work there wouldn't have been an XL in the first place.

Thank you Ryanair

Ryanair rescue flights, one A/C for two weeks :D.Ryanair.com - News : Ryanair Brings Stranded XL Passengers Home

Jetgate 12th Sep 2008 19:45

Is it just me or isn't it a tad crass to have a PREMIUM rate number as the UK number for the CAA Emergency call Centre.....

Deeko01 12th Sep 2008 19:51

Ryanair have got to be the cheekiest basterds in the whole world, they were due to start a load of new flights next week from Edinburgh yet they have told the fare paying EDI public that due to Boeing going on strike they will not be able to fly there passengers on the flights they booked months ago because of no spare aircraft and yet now they offer an aircraft to the CAA for the bail out of XL, absolutely scandalous.

MOL Get tae f***.

daz211 12th Sep 2008 20:02

I think you will find that the A/C Ryanair are offering
is the stand by A/C based at STN.

I just dont get why people still slag off FR when they are helping 100's if not 1000's of stranded passengers, what do they need to do to get some good press for once :ugh:.

GiveMeABreak 12th Sep 2008 20:07

Just read the opportunistic statement on their website. It speaks volumes !!!

Please can you name a Congolese airline not on the EU blacklist ?

BongleBear 12th Sep 2008 20:14

“This is proof positive that passengers should not book their holidays with flaky, financially stretched airlines such as XL. Passengers should only book reservations with financially strong airlines such as Ryanair whom they know will be here for the long term"

I love it, get an advert in there lads. Nice we're getting involved though using a spare aircraft, but yes, Ryanair will still always get abuse because it's easy an easy shot.

Good luck to all those concerned. Ryanair have announced internally that courses for pilots are being frozen, but I suspect they'll welcome a few - must be a better option than cadets.

rab-k 12th Sep 2008 20:17

Felt for the poor sods coming back from KSFB to EGCC today, whose flight, whilst crossing 20W, opted to head for LFPG instead .

Wonder a) what was said by the crew, b) how the punters reacted.

Still, I guess LFPG is closer to EGCC than KSFB.

Best wishes to the XLA guys'n'gals - there but for the grace of, etc...

XL Winter wet lease in Canada/Canadian Pilots in UK

Can anyone confirm about the amount of Canadian Pilots leased in to fly for XL UK this summer?
And how many crews and planes were planned to go to Canada on wet lease this coming winter from XL UK? was the company Skyservice in Toronto?

jamesp 12th Sep 2008 20:50

i've flown several times wth xl. very good airline i've no complaints. cant believe they're finished. i hope all staff find some luck and hope rapidly.. its a shame it could'nt of been some other airline.. ( not that i wish for any airline to go under )

racasan 12th Sep 2008 21:11

Mr Wyatt,
such tears... Not... has he lost his home or anything thing at all... I doubt it. I am so sorry for the staff, but did he go to the airport to address the poor punters... again NO.
I will now await a hail of storm.
By the way I know a lot of XL staff and no I do not work there. Hope all goes well for them.

Please can you name a Congolese airline not on the EU blacklist ?
Expect it is Bravo Airlines, who have a 767 painted up as Bravo Air Congo. Spanish registered.

stowaway 12th Sep 2008 21:27

Dear Daz,
Have just logged onto the Ryanair link regarding XL rescue flights. What a load of b******ds. Is there no limit to how low they will stoop to try and make political gain from others' misfortunes. It seems as though this a*****hole Cawley is from the same mould (!) as O'Leary.
Ryanair have offered the CAA one of their 737-800.........but one asks how much are they charging??
Regards.

GiveMeABreak 12th Sep 2008 21:31

Thanks for that....there's always a way around the regulations unless you are in the UK !!

UnderASouthernSky 12th Sep 2008 21:32

In terms of the XL flight from KSFB which diverted to LFPG on Friday morning, this may have been because it was an XL France machine.

Axis Airways flew 2 charters from Paris to Manchester during Friday afternoon, which I assume was to fly the stranded passengers home.

Can't quite work that one out, unless XLF were worried about getting their aircraft grounded at MAN???

manrow 12th Sep 2008 21:43

Why all the criticism of Phil Wyatt?

He has made a statement explaining the circumstances of the company collapse.

Do you have better information?

Captain Capstan 12th Sep 2008 21:55

Skyservice use Thomson/First Choice and Thomas Cook aircraft. XL flew for Sunwing
