Timmy, TOM are NOT, I repeat NOT pulling DSA at winter

Infact, surprised your 'source' aint heard this one!!!!!:

I was looking at a link on A.net regarding biman at MAN, and it seems Icelandair are to operate a 4 weekly service to DSA through to JFK.

http://docketsinfo.dot.gov/reports/u...2010-11-26.pdf

Its at the bottom of the first page.

TimmyW 9th Dec 2010 18:24

Thats fair enough, I did state they were merely rumours I had heard.
Those are the cargo JFK flights are they not?

SWBKCB 9th Dec 2010 18:31

Icelandair - these look like 4 Freight charters between 27/11 and 18/12/2010 rather than a 4 times a week schedule service?!?

aidoair 9th Dec 2010 18:35

Yes they are as shown in the link. I believe they have only managed to operate 2 of these services so far obviously because of the weather.

pug 9th Dec 2010 18:37

They are temporary freight flights.

TimmyW 9th Dec 2010 18:43

So if Thomson aren't pulling the winter flights, could there be any truth in the other rumours?

aidoair 9th Dec 2010 18:54

In my opinion nothing wrong has been said on here yet, although i would watch out guys on discussing such things as potential rumours on airlines and routes, as it has lead to the page for unknown reasons to be locked twice in the passed... anyway for now i say carry on with the RUMOURS .

PPRuNe Pop 9th Dec 2010 19:26

Yep! Beware some have been deleted and if the posts about knowing nothing about nothing except guessing - those that do will get banned EACH time. Enough is enough.

Any news on the reopening? Looking at the Yorkshire Post the Citation seems to be very much on the piste (contrary to previous posts) with a distinct list to starboard

Amsterdam

Does anyone know what the loadings were like on the EZY Amsterdam service?

I seem to recall that when Sheffield airport opened, the Amsterdam was pretty full from the start of service.

I wonder if KLM Cityhopper would be interested? They seem to do well from Humberside.

dwlpl 10th Dec 2010 17:19

In October EZY carried 5707 pax, no idea how many flights they had.

pug 10th Dec 2010 17:20

Load factors on the AMS were as low as 50% with EZY.

The KLM is mentioned on the last page of this thread. I dont know why they would cannibalise the Yorkshire market.

ryansf 10th Dec 2010 17:39

Assuming a flight every day (I don't know if any were cancelled or not), 62 flights means an average load factor of 59% - though even at this rate, they would still be profitable, just not profitable enough! Even the airport admitted the Amsterdam times were poor, hence the poor loadings. As I understand it, easyJet were quite happy with the others routes, especially the Iberian ones - as probably mentioned before, the main reason they are leaving is to concentrate on the larger bases - it's unfortunate that DSA is an anomaly here!

Tell that to Thomson then - Djerba clearly appears on the TOM website if you do a bit of digging. And have you not heard? Peel is no longer the majority shareholder of DSA (and other Peel airports for that matter) so any house building will have to go through Vancouver. :ugh:

kestrel757 12th Dec 2010 16:31

Peel need the Money to cover there loss on the sale of the Trafford Centre
Don't know how you worked that one out. The sale of the Trafford Centre & subsequent and simultaneous acquisition of a large stake in the purchasers' extensive property empire was generally considered a very good deal for Peel. As already stated in another post, Peel no longer have a majority stake in DSA or any other UK airport.
