LCY-BHD started Monday 26 March 2007. I see I was one of both the first and the last users of it (in its last couple of weeks when it was suddenly rescheduled and the evening rotation eliminated at no notice). In fact as I write this I am reminded I am STILL awaiting my EU cancellation compensation from Air France for that.

Otters2000 28th Jul 2008 11:25

Ahh, I remember reading about the rescheduling things, good luck with your compensation! And thanks for the replies, WHBM and Skipness :ok:

Cityjet "significant adjustments"

Any bets on what will be announced at 15.00 today?,following on the bad news memo from the head honcho. As I have said before ,no such thing as deep pockets nowadays,

especially when your crew outnumbers your pax.

jethro15 17th Dec 2008 14:45

What was announced at 15:00 today?

No_Speed_Restriction 17th Dec 2008 15:34

What, no more biscuits for us in the flight deck? What will I survive on now?

There goes my "meal opportunity" :yuk:

rubymurray 17th Dec 2008 16:13

Soooooo, anything actually announced?

Jetfella 17th Dec 2008 19:41

yup,grey man grey suit,grey story

vlm acquisition was the downfall, can i also add,the god awful marketing!

and this continues with the brand confusion,

cityjet is lost, when they so easily could have been saved...

HKLCY 17th Dec 2008 21:26

So what was actually announced?

Is Cityjet cancelling any routes?

BAladdy 18th Dec 2008 00:39

CityJet - The Netherlands from London City Airport in 2009

What has basically been announced is that Cityjet will take over from VLM and KLM Cityhopper on the AMS/LCY route and deploy a 95 seater RJ85 on the route 8 times a day.

On the EIN route VLM will take over from Cityjet operating twice daily using a F50 aircraft.

Have not noticed any other major changes.

beanojet 18th Dec 2008 07:05

No major decisions that I can discern - no cancellations, something about a business plan in January and the AMS route. No significant adjustments really but its between the lines!

WHBM 18th Dec 2008 08:18

Now didn't VLM try a 146 (leased from Flightline and painted up in VLM colours) from London City to Rotterdam just a few months ago, and find the costs were way over the top for such a short route ? What is different about the new jet service to Amsterdam ?

Longhitter 18th Dec 2008 10:19

The fact that it replaces a roughly 16 times a day service from AMS using FK50s from VLM and KLM by 8 times a day with an RJ.

Rotterdam was always a 'smaller' route and indeed did not justify a BAe146-300 (100 seats).

virginblue 18th Dec 2008 11:17

I think the problem with RTM was/is that it has very high peak time demand, for which a 146-sized aircraft is helpful - but very difficult to justify the costs for the rest of the day when it is sometimes difficult to get a decent load even on a cheap 50 seat turboprop.

This actually seems to describe the majority of LCY routes to all ponts.

well lads it appears that the financial crisis is starting to hit....a lot of losses this week and apparently its just the start....it'll be a long summer. lets hope the VLM guys are more expensive to run than us or they be operating more and more................:(

fruitcake 7th Feb 2009 14:16

what do you notice then?

vkid 23rd Feb 2009 12:44

Cityjet increase capacity at Shannon

Good news. Would they normally base an aircraft for 2 daily flights?

dochealth 23rd Feb 2009 14:31

City jet capacity SNN

What a/c will they now use on SNN - CDG?

virginblue 23rd Feb 2009 21:59

If it is 95 seats and Cityjet, that means an Avro RJ85:

CityJet - CityJet presents its fleet

95 seats in an RJ85 must be pretty claustrophobic.

dochealth 24th Feb 2009 18:33

Thanks VB - hope they get the numbers...
