Think todays EIR announcement is a very good thing for Waterford. Being able to presumably mention Waterford as part of the the widespread EI advertising in the London area is going to be fantastic for WAT. The EI brand at least has name recognition in Britain, something that RE can never achieve.
Having travelled on -CBK pre and now post makeover, it is now in fine condition in the eyes of Joe public. Wall panels seem to have been replaced and the cloth seats have been replaced with leather seats similar to what used to be in -REA/EF/EE. The colourscheme alone takes years off from a PAX point of view! Coulden't really tell if cabin noise was reduced, I know there has been mentions of additional vibration absorbers being installed? SEN while a fine airport with the new terminal, is still the wrong gateway for London-Waterford flights in my opinion. While its great that LTN seems to be daily from WAT for the summer, hopefully in time the powers that be in EI will put pressure for the early and late WAT rotations to be to LTN rather than SEN. Minor point on what is a good news day for WAT.:) |
The increase in flights to LTN and MAN from Waterford will not start in May. It will now be from 4 June - 27 Oct. Was planned to be May-Sep.

Anyone any ideas on where EIR is in terms of fleet re-branding? To my knowledge only CBK has been done so far.......seems a lot of work to do in a short space of time.

Today was a big day for the airport and by the look of the phots on airports facbook page the airport was busy. Its great to see BE at the airport.

Flybe, New routes, Runway
Hey,
Just wondering does anyone know how the new flybe BHX route is getting on? Heard it had a flight cancelled last week. Also was wondering does anyone also know about new possible routes in the near future and the possible runway upgrade? Thanks b7x7 |
The route is doing fairly well. A Dash Q400 is a little to large for the route and it being daily is to much. BE are happy and have confirmed it will operate next winter. `
The airprot are working to get a link to EDI or GLA and they said a new route would be added before the end of the year. The runway thing is on hold and won't happen for many years. |
Thats good..
Would you think that BE will keep the daily flight or introduce some cut backs.. I also wonder what are the chances of them basing an aircraft there EDI i presume would be popular but i could only really see that 4/5 days per week, who will operate it would you happen to know.. That 42 based there i think is quite small, hopefully EIR will lease some more out, know that they are getting a good profit.. b7x7 ** Any news on lorient or is that gone for good now? |
Would think BE will fly BHX at 4 weekly for winter. The schedule will be released end of April/early May.
If EDI happens I think Flybe before Aer Lingus. Lorient is gone. |
Ah right.. Thanks for the reply anyway
Looking at the Edinburgh Airport Wikipedia page it seems somebody added that they are flying to Waterford, i presume this is a mistake or could it be the onward connection from BHX. Any reason why the Lorient route was dropped? or was it just due to low passenger numbers on the once weekly flight. And do they have any plans to introduce a new route to france/ams/or any other large city? Would be brilliant if they did so. b7x7 |
BHX flights will run this winter, M,W,F,S on an afternoon slot. I'd say thats pretty much right for it, good to keep it year round.

BHX
flybe BHX-WAT reduced to five a week from 11/6/2012.
I suppose going by the April figures it is not surprising unless the aircraft is going to do increased frequencies from BHX to elsewhere I don't know as yet. The Tuesday and Thursday flights are the chosen ones for the chop. The flybe booking engine and timetable both match. Pete |
Just in case anyone didn't know/see...
WATERFORD 1,554 up 28.96 - 26 pax - 33% Hope the route does pick up though... and becomes sustainable! |
Just spotted on airport website BE from BHX arrived on time but delayed 5hrs departing, anyone know anything?

The captain must have not being paying much attention at all..
The turning circle at the end of runway 21 is nearly 50m wide, you could turn an a380 or 747 within that.. Incident: Flybe DH8D at Waterford on Jun 5th 2012, runway excursion during backtracking |
I could be wrong but judging by this photo he may have gone off just before the first turning circle
|
Waterford Airport has had a 82% increase in seat capacity per week compared to 2011. It is the largest increase in the counrty with Donegal (36% increase), Knock (11.4% increase) and all other airports also increase slightly except Kerry and Shannon which declined over 2011.
|
Ahhh Boeing 7x7 you make me chuckle, do you know what KFA stands for?
|
Easy to have a big % increase off a very small base. They are now back to that small base for 2012.......
|
Flybe have said to a number of people asking about taking up Waterford flights:
we are currently considering our position and will update our customers once a decision has been made. Thank you |
