Ryanair takes of with new routes from Bournemouth

From Ceefax this morning.

RYANAIR TAKES OFF WITH NEW SOUTH ROUTES
The low cost airline Ryanair will
announce new route details today from
the South.

The new flights from Bournemouth Airport
follow a recent expansion there by
rivals Buzz.

Both carriers believe their increased
services will create hundreds of new
jobs at the airport.

Ryanair recently published figures
showing its passengers numbers had
grown by 37% and that profits were up
by 71%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like Ryanair are going Head to Head with
Buzz on the Bournemouth to Glasgow and Paris.

Our local BBC TV news reported at lunchtime that Buzz had cancelled their plans for a route from Bournemouth to Glasgow/Prestwick due to the Ryanair announcement! Not much of a head to head!

On BBC 1 local news tonight it has just stated that BUZZ will not now
operate the Prestwick route, the airport manager said that the aircraft
would be deployed on other services.
.........
Hopefully on another Bournemouth Route.

Well that shows Buzz in a new light!

Cant stand the pressure form a leading UK operator of low-cost fares!

Now if I was a senior KLM boss, I would be kicking ass around!

Why embarrass a leading European airline with routes from a new base, then pull out and hide when a real player turns up, and this prior to launching the service! Shows the long term commitment of Buzz?

All Buzz are after is Palmair!

Let me get this correct:-

Buzz announce Bournemouth to Prestwick a while back.

Ryanair announce Bournemouth to Prestwick today.

Buzz announce that they are pulling off the route today.

Someone, somewhere has not got a grasp on low cost!

Now I thought Buzz were low cost, well if they are, they are having trouble dealing with the hard world of competition!

What will happen if Ryanair announce further competing new routes?

Now knock Ryanair, they and easy, boss the low cost world.

Looking at the times of Both Airlines - Bournemouth To Prestwick

Ryanairs new Prestwick flight times

Hahn - Bournemouth 16.10/16.45
Bournemouth - Prestwick 17.10/18.25
Prestwick - Bournemouth 18.50 / 20.10
Bournemouth - Prestwick 20.35 / 23.00

Buzz Prestwicks flight times were (now Canx)

Bournemouth - prestwick 07.00 / 08.20
Bournemouth - Prestwick 14.50 / 16.10 Mon and Fri
Bournemouth - Prestwick 18.45 / 20.05

Looks like the times for Buzz would have been much better for passengers for a day return and now Ryanair Hahn passengers turn up at Hahn at 23.00.

Ryanair takes of with new routes from Bournemouth

Now that Buzz have run up the white flag maybe Palmair could re-consider the route and operate a morning flight,I`m sure that nice Mr O`Leary would`nt have a problem with that!!!

Looking at those timings I don't see Rynair have done themselves or the Bournemouth traveller any favours at all. I have reason to use both the Scottish route and was thinking of taking the wife for a short break in the Mosel area late winter, but Hahn at 23:00 does not impress at all. My only hope now is that the summer timetable is a bit more reasonable.

I imagine one or two at Palmair flight ops are musing over an airline that was quite willing to shoulder them off a route but ran away in terror at the approach of the MOL...

I suppose Buzz don't want to experience the tactics FR employed with GO on EDI-DUB/GLA-DUB...

Looks as if Buzz decided to pull a 'Palmair' special Palmair was planning to operate BOH-PIK and the pulled out when buzz announced their intention to operate the route!

Edited to say that I just noticed that this has been mentioned in earlier posts!
