Air Holland in Trouble
The following message appeared in De Telegraaf this morning:
Roughly translated it reads:
"Air Holland has this weekend lost two large customers OAD Reizen and Hotelplan. The two touroperators have accommodated their passengers on other airlines.
(...)
Air Holland hopes to find new backers before the 10th of September, when Eurocontrol's request for Air Holland to be forced into bankruptcy will be dealt with in the courts. Eurocontrol is presently owed 1.7million Euros.
(...)
In May a long period of financial uncertainty seemed to have ended, when Tony Gram, owner of VG Airlines (now Delsey Airlines) invested in the company. Air Holland has stated that a further investment by Gram is being discussed."
------
Best of luck to all at Air Holland during this difficult time !!

Middlepath,
Just to clarify. Air Holland (original version) ceased operations around two years ago (approx?) due to financial difficulties. THIS is probably the incident that you are recalling.
However, the Company was re-launched a few months back, using B757 aircraft formerly operated by Britannia Airways.
The carrier (Air Holland - 2nd version) was re-launched, complete with new corporate identity. (Rather nice too.)
Sadly, it is now the latest version of the company that is suffering financial difficulties. (See 76-er's comments above regarding the latest situation).
Hope the above clarifies.

Whilst I understand and appreciate the sentiments of all concerned when an airline experiences financial difficulties that may result in the loss of aircrew jobs, please think of the bigger picture.
My company is a creditor of the Air Holland previous version. We lost a considerable amount of money when they went out of business. We have no prospect of recovering that money. We had hoped that the success of the new version might bring some recompense (no way). So, my question is, how can an airline walk away from its' responsibilities, be given a second chance, without any accountability and then be allowed to screw their suppliers a second time round?
If they then get the financial backing talked about here, is anyone going to force them to face their previous commitments? I doubt it.

Agreed Cumulonimbus. It happens all too often and legal loopholes mean that it will continue to happen, and suppliers such as yourself will continue to suffer.
That said - don't know an easy way around it, since those involved can reinvent themselves under different guises literally and therefore cannot be legally prohibited from entering the business once again.
Also, strong (yet failed?????) brand names do make sense to be re-used when the public holds a particular affection or confidence for that brand.

JP Airline-Fleets indicates the MD of Air Holland is/was a certain LS, now also portraying himself as the GM of Delsey (ex VG-) Airlines in Belgium.
This is the same person who I believe was previously involved with airlines such as Solidair in LUX and Constellation in BRU, both of which also had to file for bakruptcy in their days.
Anyone care to comment on where Delsey may be heading if it is to continue to be co-managed by this one time barrister?

I remember the end of Air Holland 1, at the time Britannia was leasing 3 x B752 from them and 2 x B762 to AH.
The end result was that BY took over the leases of the B752s direct from the lessors and rapidly took back its B762s one of which had a Eurocontrol debt on it, so BY had to pay it or risk it being impounded.
Shame they keep having such trouble, is it perhaps due to the almost KLM monopoly?
Nice colour scheme, G-BYAR was parked at MAN for several months following re-painting whilst AH came up with the money (from VG) to commence the lease.
