Wizz has announced that it is cancelling “a large number of flights” from Doncaster Sheffield Airport from 10 June onwards.
The airline says the move is “a result of Doncaster Sheffield Airport indicating that it is unable to guarantee the terms of its commercial agreement with Wizz Air”.

Looks like its the Sun flights which have gone, the East European remaining.

from a DSA perspective, they've spent almost ten million upgrading the terminal for the Wizz base. What now? Other than TUI no one will touch the place.

I think it's clear the issues here are more DSA related. Wizz have said as much in their presser.
Let's not forget the head guy at the airport quit not long ago, and unless I've missed it hasn't been replaced.
I wouldn't be surprised to see more bad news coming out of DSA before the end of the year.

Yes, Wizz Air's press releases are never bollocks. Maybe the airport should calculate the amount of delay caused by Wizz being unable to crew the base. Which won't be a problem from mid-June, miraculously.

Regardless of blame there's only one loser and it's DSA. Who else is going to step in to pick up the pieces? Every possible runner has already been, and gone.
Wizz were the only chance of building a decent offering out of DSA. How sustainable is a TUI base of a few aircraft for the long term? Or will Peel just cut and run and concentrate on the land?

Unfortunately I don't know but anyone who considered Wizz the saviour of DSA was gravely wrong. Scroll back a bit and read what I said a few weeks ago. It happened awfully quickly.

Also do you care to quote why DSA have broken the agreement terms? No, thought not - 1.you dont know and 2. Legal would have you in court. Rather than being a DSA negative fantasist, pipe down.
Wizz didnt uphold last winters quota for new terms and havent this summer, and tried to rewrite the deal, the second based aircraft hasnt materialised which means DSA pulled the strings but won't publicly to keep a relationship.

How does it grow in future other than TUI?
Why be made out to be the culprit if it isn't their doing?
Doesn't add up

Also, it seems the terminal work to enable the Wizz base was paid for by a loan from taxpayers money. Wonder if they'll be getting an explanation?
It's about time this white elephant closed for good. There is no need for an airport in Doncaster!!
