Eastern ABZ flights don't seem to be on sale yet - but "Teesside (Seasonal)" has appeared in the drop down menu - a hang over from the Jersey flights?

I wonder how much money they chucked Easterns way to get them to commit to the route. Judging by Houchen’s pre-election spin on the matter, he would have been desperate to get it confirmed prior to the vote!

So Ben wins!

On the upside, we know that means the airport will continue to be supported and be high on his agenda. Get your bucket and spades ready for Malaga and Tenerife!

On the downside, I suspect it'll be another few years of playful satire and grumblings from the anti-Houchen group on here.....

Dont think anybody is anti-Houchen. It's more a case of pro-transparency and pro-honesty and a recognition that his Lordship has made himself into such a toxic character in the world of commerce that it is impacting on the development of the Teesworks and the Airport.
I know that he has now disasociated himself from the Tory party but let's hope the new Labour government dont cut him off at the knees.

PS: the labour bloke did very well considering how utterly uninspiring he was.

Will he be exposed mid term? Will he be starved of cash?

I think all options are up for grabs come the general election.

Certainly, you would expect labour to re-prioritise where cash is spent.

Hopefully the airport is needing less financial support by then.

Because of all of the secrecy we dont know by how much the taxpayer is subsidising the current or promised new Ryanair routes or how much is being paid to Eastern for them to commit before election day so we could have problems if labour chop the magic money tree down.

SeanM has 11 flights a week from 9 September - looks like a night stopper departing at 07.30, back at 14.15, out at 15.00 and returning at 20.30 Mon-Fri. In 16.45, out 17.15 on a Sunday

Sadly displaying no humility to reflect the masive swing away from Lord H and still inventing none existent jobs and flights. This would have been a great opportunity to acknowledge that all is not well, either locally or nationwide, although his lordship seems to be back in the tory party now. He said the C word for the first time in weeks......
Conservative.

You do realise central government give the mayors the money and they spend it on what they deem fit, what they promised.
Now Houchen has got back in he has a democratic mandate to do as he sees fit within his manifesto which includes the airport.
Any subsides will be part of a commercial package. Like every airport puts forward to airlines. Are MME any bigger who knows but I very much doubt they are significantly larger than othe similar sized airports.

Agreed, but one of the issues with the way the Mayor operates is he seems to think the money is his to spend as he see's fit - it isn't, it's public money and there are ways of doing things to ensure that it is spent appropriately. Yes he has a mandate, but that doesn't mean you can do what you want.

As Grumpy1 says, it's not anti-Houchen, but lets do things properly.

Not questioning the democratic right to spend the money allocated by central government but if the airport is dependant on subsidies and those subsidies are removed by a new regime with different priorities then we may be in the doo doo's. The idea was for a transport link to benefit the region but it could be argued that seasonal FR flights to the seaside is probably taking money away from the area.

I for one would be comfortable putting money down on the term not being completed, whether voluntarily or forcibly

Nice to see him in the Willis hangar. Mate of mine has jumped from there as things are not secure with that business plan. Far from it I hear. The Tory rent a crowd seems to have more staging than the MRO.

Willis more or less run the place so their demise wouldn't be good.
