Flybe-9
Perhaps incompetence and useless might be better descriptions for a chairman who has presided over a severe decline in the share price and taken the company close to bankruptcy ?

Look at the share price under the current board.
I am aware that I am banging a drum here but I think the Loganair spat has cost Flybe so much and it was under the current boards approval.

...And you can see why they’re livid. Mr Laffin took the Flybe chair in November 2013 with the shares at 120p, since when Otto, the blow-up doll from Airplane!, could have done a similar job.

Being reported...
Flybe to allow & hold a shareholder vote probably in early March on whether to remove Chairman S.L. in the face of investor pressure.
In addition Mr T has also put forward an alternative financing proposal which would replace the Connect deal.

According to the BOD Flybe do not have the funds to continue trading. If an injunction is sought there now is a fall back option from Tinkler. The company will be able to trade with Tinklers’ cash injection while Kohn exposes the wrong doings of Laffin and Co.
We need to support this action. If Virgin gets hold of the company it will be curtains for all of us.

The bid from Mr Tinkler has unfortunately today been rejected. I actually saw better potential from this than the so far debacle from Virgin Atlantic and associated groups.
What is Tinkler's plan to make Flybe profitable ? If he can't achieve this within perhaps 12 months, then supporting his bid is just a case of kicking the can down the road. Whatever the outcome for Flybe, it is likely that a lot of people who tried to do their job well will end up with a rather unfortunate change of circumstances

To be clearer?...
No bid from Mr T as such,it is/was a "proposal" with many caveats in the event of the Connect deal perhaps failing.
Flybe board of course will reject any such "proposal".

It really comes down to an offer that will protect a large number of jobs for the foreseeable future, versus complaints from vulture capitalists who are unhappy at their investment not realising the return they had hoped for.

Either way flyBe will look very different in 12-18 months.
If the deal goes well, Connect will operate ATRs for SAS and Aer Lingus (possibly streamlined on the Stobart AOC), ERJs for BA and KLM and E175s & Q400s for/in Virgin Colours. The UK network will likely focus on areas like MAN, LHR (limited), SEN, BHD, SOU, EXT, etc where flyBe have less LCC completion and should be able to charge higher fares. The Virgin brand might also be able to drive higher revenue - partially though connections, but also through brand recognition and FFP loyalty to VS and SkyTeam.
What might happen to the remainder of the E195s is unclear right now, but they likely will leave the fleet. If this deal fails and the airline collapses, everything will leave the fleet and investors will get nothing. Judging by the LGW slot sales and emergency cash injections, that’s a matter of weeks, without radical change.

I do think BHX stands to be smaller under the deal. VS and Stobart have little existing interest, and I doubt it is particuarly profitable - it probably cannot sustain the yield of many other bases. Hourly direct trains to Edinburgh and Glasgow too, with a journey time under 4 hours.

BHX
You only have to look at the fares charged and especially some of the last minute ones - Aberdeen out tomorrow morning back Wednesday evening was £505 return but while checking this it now sold out inbound, DUS completely full all three flights tomorrow, EDI out tomorrow morning and back Wednesday night £259 or £383. Stuttgart £327, Berlin TXL £446 (Out Tuesday back Thursday) - Amsterdam despite 11 flights by KLM and BE out tomorrow back Wednesday night £205 BE with KLM same times £626 return. Cheap compared to SAS CPH at £895 return on the cheap ticket.
These are only slightly higher than the norm due to the Spring Fair at the NEC and if you have the right yield management then you should be quids in although I suppose the Flybe accounts suggest they might be somewhat lacking in that department.
My gripe is that some of the winter reductions have not been reinstated during an annual trade show at the NEC with Lyon, Hamburg and Hanover not operating Tuesday or Wednesday, Milan Wednesday, Berlin Wednesday and Inverness Wednesday.
