I used to live in Stansted Mountfitchet when I worked at the airport in the late 80's. A pretty village to one side of the flight path, so not a lot of noise with some good old pubs, and a railway station. Not much in the way of shops, so it would either be Bishops Stortford or Saffron Walden for shopping. However I have no idea what it's like now.

Stansted Mountfitchet is, Elsenham less so. Bishop's Stortford is the one really. Sawbridgeworth is nice but a bit more challenging with trains to/from the airport. Harlow is easy on trains but largely not my favourite of places, though neither is Luton to be fair

Not surprised.
i said they’d can Stansted when they got the Heathrow slots. They aren’t a big enough operation to justify two London airports, three is madness

Im surprised they bothered with LGW when they had LHR in the pipeline, a lot of competition there. It makes more sense to me for them to have STN and LHR if they’re going to have a two London operation, with the large Cypriot community in north London. Not a big loss either way. LCA still served.

I would say it is a loss. Flights are often full and I believe it takes a small amount of freight too.
Though yes we still have a service to Larnaca but it’s with a ‘Holiday Company’ who’s flights to Cyprus are aimed at more leisure passengers and don’t offer a premium product. Though yes Cobalts is nothing to shout about.
The biggest question no matter if it operates at Heathrow 4 times a week or daily. How did it get the slots and how did they afford them?
I’m sure if these slots didn’t appear at Heathrow Cobalt would still be daily and I’m sure one the newly launched Chinese routes would be at Stansted.

The recent influx of Chinese entrants at LHR are because they are generally using evening slots which are rare but have been available to these airlines hence the recent additions.
Some airlines such as China Southern have used existing slots to cover the new destinations that they are serving from LHR.
Those 'spare' evening slots will soon be harder to obtain and I'm sure that MAG would be in dialogue with any potential airline to start a service to STN.

I’m pretty sure that this is normal for these routes and the schedule will be released in due course, which is generally later in the year.

An increase in capacity VIE/STN anyway when Laudamotion commence 28.10.18.
Although slated as 13 pw the latest listing shows 2xdaily with 6 weekly A321 & 8 weekly A320.

On FR24 all of primera longhaul are showing as unknown, I can’t seem to find them on route,
I know FR24 can be hit and miss, if it was just one of the routes I wouldn’t be asking.
Can anyone confirm if all longhaul flights have departed STN.
Cheers.

The failure also delayed the CDG-EWR service which has only just departed.

@USERNAME - if possible can you elaborate further on the alleged IT system failure? Happy to take a pm from you if you want to take it off-line.
