The train services from Elsenham or Stansted Mountfitchet are not great. Most of Ryanair appears to live in Bishop's Stortford.

I used to live in Stansted Mountfitchet when I worked at the airport in the late 80's. A pretty village to one side of the flight path, so not a lot of noise with some good old pubs, and a railway station. Not much in the way of shops, so it would either be Bishops Stortford or Saffron Walden for shopping. However I have no idea what it's like now.

Stansted Mountfitchet is, Elsenham less so. Bishop's Stortford is the one really. Sawbridgeworth is nice but a bit more challenging with trains to/from the airport. Harlow is easy on trains but largely not my favourite of places, though neither is Luton to be fair

Cobalt

CO appears to end after October. Not sure whether itís returning as summer seasonal? With their new LHR slots and LGW operation. I would guess itís ending for good.

Not surprised.

i said theyíd can Stansted when they got the Heathrow slots. They arenít a big enough operation to justify two London airports, three is madness

Agreed.

Im surprised they bothered with LGW when they had LHR in the pipeline, a lot of competition there. It makes more sense to me for them to have STN and LHR if theyíre going to have a two London operation, with the large Cypriot community in north London. Not a big loss either way. LCA still served.

I would say it is a loss. Flights are often full and I believe it takes a small amount of freight too.
Though yes we still have a service to Larnaca but itís with a ĎHoliday Companyí whoís flights to Cyprus are aimed at more leisure passengers and donít offer a premium product. Though yes Cobalts is nothing to shout about.

The biggest question no matter if it operates at Heathrow 4 times a week or daily. How did it get the slots and how did they afford them?
Iím sure if these slots didnít appear at Heathrow Cobalt would still be daily and Iím sure one the newly launched Chinese routes would be at Stansted.

Isn’t there a slot pool for new entrants at LHR?

I think that the slots Cobalt obtained at LHR were previously with Aegean who were flying to Larnaca.

The recent influx of Chinese entrants at LHR are because they are generally using evening slots which are rare but have been available to these airlines hence the recent additions.

Some airlines such as China Southern have used existing slots to cover the new destinations that they are serving from LHR.

Those 'spare' evening slots will soon be harder to obtain and I'm sure that MAG would be in dialogue with any potential airline to start a service to STN.

In fact EW appear to stop STR, HAJ, MUC too. Possibly just CGN remaining with EW from April 2019.

Big loss if true. EW/4U has been around with quite a respectacle presence for a very long time. STN seems be loosing a few airlines and routes.

Is it not a bit early for these routes to be on sale post April 2019?
Iím pretty sure that this is normal for these routes and the schedule will be released in due course, which is generally later in the year.

An increase in capacity VIE/STN anyway when Laudamotion commence 28.10.18.

Although slated as 13 pw the latest listing shows 2xdaily with 6 weekly A321 & 8 weekly A320.

On FR24 all of primera longhaul are showing as unknown, I can’t seem to find them on route,
I know FR24 can be hit and miss, if it was just one of the routes I wouldn’t be asking.
Can anyone confirm if all longhaul flights have departed STN.
Cheers.

There was an I.T system failure, resulting in the delay to the ALC(now departed), KEF/EWR, IAD and YYZ flights this evening. They will all be departing within the next hour or two.

The failure also delayed the CDG-EWR service which has only just departed.
