They will have to do battle with the council over this first but then the council doesn't own the airport unlike the upstart around the corner that is up a hill as their council loves airport expansion.
Chief executive Ken O'Toole states "Airlines will recognise that Stansted is the only major airport in London with available capacity probably for the next 10 to 15 years"
Not sure all other London airports will agree with that statement.

A lot of consultation with all concerned has been in progress for a lengthy period including many local roadshows & even a re consultation when figures were amended following input.
MAG have been very careful & considered with their planning & approach & I would hesitate to state "they will have to do battle with the council".
The CEO`s statement is perfectly correct with the capacity statement.

Stansted is the only one that had the foresight in the '80s to acquire the land to construct a second runway. It's purchase at the time was 'sold' to the local people as a buffer to prevent residential construction and therefore noise pollution. In fact the 800 acres is there for another runway as and when approved. I know because I was there.

I am clearly pointing out the fact that Air Corsica is offering better fares than EasyJet and looking at those fares I would pick one over the over.
But if Air Corsica was more expensive, I would possibly still go with them to try there service out.
I am glad EasyJet are adding a new route. I am excited for both airlines to be competing on a new route.
If that’s what you class as moaning then fair play that’s your opinion. I was making a point what was my opinion.
Thanks

When the BAA divested itself of Stansted, I was told that the property portfolio that had been built up over many years acquiring land and houses to facilitate a second runway, was not part of the deal? Maybe MAG has purchased this portfolio subsequently?

The plan is to use the remote stands between taxiways Hotel and Juliet as roll through de-icing pads in the winter as well as remote holding stands all year.
These will not allow passenger disembarkation but will allow aircraft to hold waiting for stands inbound of for slots outbound, hence prominently to the runway and away from the aprons

Thanks for the info....
The remote stands/holding at new "Yankee" now makes complete sense as to go for the max thru put will entail much juggling of the contact stands throughout the day.
Use as roll through de-icing pads will also improve & speed up the traffic flow for STN during winter ops.

Eurowings havent released the winter schedule though, I asked them the other day about it and they said late Spring (which I take as April time - the same as easyJet)

No..........post states w/e summer schedule..so taking "w/e" meaning "with effect" in normal parlance.
Indeed STR is not available from the start of Summer whereas HAJ/SZG are bookable right thru Summer 18.
