I see what you mean, not sure but the aircraft also apparently sat at the gate for an hour which only added to the frustration. If this did play out how it is being portrayed I think on this occasion I would thoroughly understand the anger and frustration.
Of course its also quite possible an accurate reflection of the circumstances wasn’t relayed to the crew, but without facts I can only speculate.

I’m a bit puzzled, it seems Primera are operating B752 National again on today’s EWR-STN after yesterday’s flight to EWR was operated by the new A321, I was hoping they had ended the National relationship early but seems not.
I wonder when the Airbus will return to STN and also wonder can the National be used on shorthaul from Stansted and keep the Airbus on the Newark route ?

Good to see the Montenegro Airlines confirmation...
They had slots in the STN ACL summer listing to accommodate the season outlined...
This is an LGW transfer as Gatwick sites were stating they had lost the service to STN...
Researching the airline`s website at the time just stating London as destination...
Good news...

Interestingly the PRI A21N flew non stop STN-EWR in 8hrs14mins...Respect...
Perhaps the layover in NY is crew rest as lacking checked pilots at present...
The National B75 is half way across the Atlantic on PRI 042 into STN...
The B738 has departed on the AGP this AM...

What is the situation with compensation in this scenario, assuming the pax did genuinely arrive at check-in with good time which I have no reason to doubt?

Tonight’s flight from EWR to STN PF42 is the A321 so should depart EWR on time.
im not sure why today’s PF41 STN-EWR diverted to KEF and if it’s even left KEF for EWR but I agree the National B752 needs to be dropped it is damaging primera’s reputation and social media is full of very negative comments and feedback.

As I mentioned in a previous post, it was known that the National B757 was not very reliable to say the least and look what has happened over the last two weeks. I cannot believe they chartered this aircraft, surely the best thing to do was to put back that start date until the A321 was ready. They are now paying for their incompetence and unfortunately it is not looking good for Stansted as well. I am surprised that the CAA have not got involved, but maybe they have.

Anyways...
Apart from the speculation...
News that we do know...A21N `PAA is halfway across the Atlantic on PRI 042 enroute EWR-STN...
Obviously ETOPS enabled as reported previously as it is with the bigger types & boys on the crossing...
EXS were making use of a AWC B757 yesterday as well as the regular A321...
Be good to see Air Corsica at STN from today...

Can`t imagine the CAA are not aware..Most of the complaints via social media outlets are depressingly the same..lack of customer service, ignoring refunds, EU261 claims not acknowledged and left to their own devices when flights are cancelled (frequently). So far their business plan looks to have more holes in it than a Swiss cheese.
