The problem of course with queues for passport control (not customs as that is normally a straight walk through the Green Channel) is that it is totally policed by UK Border Force.
Manchester has exactly the same problem in all three terminals, for which the airport authority is constantly being "put down" on Twitter. Unfortunately the staffing level, and even the number of e-gates in use, is in UK Border Force's hands.
Don't get me started on Security queues - that's a totally different kettle of fish which contains some pretty sluggish specimen.

This flight parked on FedEx as it was a fuel and go. Often fuel and go flights park on FedEx or Cargo stands to keep them away from normal passenger operation. It would have nothing to do with having a double or triple jet bridge. If the flight was going to be offloaded they would have parked it at SAT1 and used the normal jet bridge.

I queued for at least 45 minutes at Terminal 5 Heathrow for boarder control not too long ago. Also took me best part of an hour to get through security at London City earlier in the summer. The last two times I’ve flown through Stansted I’ve been pleasantly surprised with both security and boarder control. These issues are not specific to Stansted, however the key is the time at which you arrive. 2200-midnight is when all Ryanair based units arrive back at Stansted. I do my best to avoid arriving during this time.
As as for the blue car park, isn’t that the cheapest option of all short stay? Hence the walking distance. The new multi-storey is worth paying that bit extra for.

I agree pamann but I was delayed into the backend of the 22:00-00:00 window I now steer clear of and was shocked to get through passport in about 5 mins. Security queues still seem to be worse than elsewhere though even outside of what you’d call peak

AI167 ATQ-STN 164 Pax
AI166 STN-ATQ 290 Pax (Believe this is wrong, but is what the system is showing. The plane only has capacity for 256)

Very good addition to our network at the airport and great to have a legacy airline join. It departed slightly late due to a gate party and in India it very fashionable to arrive/leave late. (Can’t be good for Indian Airlines OTP’s)

I would very much doubt it would be all infants. I’d say that’s that the system has loaded the total pax capacity for the B788 and the dispatcher did not override the system the with the correct count.

I wonder if QR would consider STN? They've already got the UK pretty well covered with flights to LHR, LGW, BHX, CWL, EDI and MAN. Given that they already operate cargo services out of STN, it would be nice to see them open up passenger ops from here too, perhaps a daily STN-DOH service using the 788/359? That said, one might argue that any expansion in London might go to LHR/LGW first before a STN operation is considered?

Arrivals terminal/STN transformation programme
Any updates on the status of the arrivals terminal? If I recall, construction was due to start towards the end of 2018, but has since gone quiet (didn't see much work going on when I was last at STN in September).
Also, does anyone have any updates on the terminal transformation programme?

The Terminal is still having work done in other areas in terms of the transformation project. A lot of these works as back of house so won’t be noticeable when traveling.

What an awful looking and uninviting addition. Who designs these bolt on ideas. Sir Norman Foster would certainly not approve. When you look at Airports around the world they are meant to hold some beauty and be inspiring keeping the romance of air travel fresh and alive. Stansted when built done just that unfortunately it has not maintained or kept to the original look.

Jet 2
I see that Jet 2 has succeed in acquiring all of Thomas Cook's slots at STN. Will be interesting to see how these are used and possible new routes opening up from here- certainly, interesting times ahead for LS, and in time could see them overtake EZY to become number 2 at STN.

I wonder what new routes (if any) can we expect, in addition to expansion on existing frequencies?
