Kansai KIX

Hello all,

I have just flown Lufthansa FRA KIX. The aircraft was a 744, had been a 748 on all previous occasions over the past few years. Does this mean that LH are less enthusiastic about the route than they used to be? Or are they simply rotating aircraft and responding to seasonal capacity requirements? The flight was pretty full.

KIX is the ideal point of arrival for my needs, and there’s precious few airlines fly Europe-KIX. Changing at Narita / Haneda for a domestic connection to KIX is a right royal PITA. And the timing of flights from Haneda back to Europe are awful. It would be a shame to see the FRA KIX route closed.

From what I know, FRA-KIX has been 744 for quite a long time now whereas FRA-HND is operated on a 748. At least the last few times I checked.

This is also the reason I usually go for FRA-HND instead of KIX when I non-rev on one of the LH flights. I can then easily hop on one of the NH flights to ITM which operate on an hourly basis with a widebody.
