Charleroi Expansion Plan to Add New Transit Pax Terminal

Charleroi Airport has announced via local media that plans are in place to add a new terminal specifically for transit passengers, thus making the airport a fully functioning hub suitable for connections, adding more airlines and destinations

Expectations are that the airport to be able to handle 10 million pax by 2025

Significant employment increases will be required in all departments, thus bringing a boost to the local economy

Exclusif : l?aéroport de Charleroi va encore s?agrandir - La DH

(The timing of these plans are of no surprise since there are ongoing issues regarding environmental impact, noise, pollution and operation at Zaventem which has been causing a few carriers, both pax and freight, to evaluate their future use of Zaventem.....there is a well documented and growing protest against Zaventem from NIMBY groups who are against the noise from larger aircraft and increased movements at night/early morning.....TUI & Ryanair have already changed their scheduling to placate the protesters at Zaventem)

Fact that it was in same week as Ryanair's announcement on ticketing is just mere coincidence that they will happily live with.
