ANR-BHX was 12 return flights in October, so at 1200 seats 291 passengers would represent a 24% LF.

Those LF's to WAT aren't great - you'd have thought by now that they'd be doing a bit better?

VLM will base aircraft at Germany's Friedrichshafen Airport to operate routes previously operated by defunct Intersky.

What will VLM do differently to be profitable where Intersky went bankrupt ?

Hopefully not burn money on other routes that attracted the interest of the Lufthansa group soon after Intersky launched them and not waste money on swanky new ATR72s....

Additionally, one would assume that a nice incentive package has been put on the table by the airport as the folks down there were quite shocked about the loss of those core routes as they had operated for almost 30 years when Intersky went under.

Hope they are doing well in FDH, but cannot understand why it is just possible to book the tickets from 11th January.

If they get the same load factor like Intersky it wouldn't be that bad:
Average load factors last 12 months:
Düsseldorf 28 PAX (56%)
Hamburg 37 PAX (74%)
Berlin 40 PAX (80%)

Due to the reason that Intersky return flights cost at least 198€ and VLM return flights start with 159€ it may possible that they get the same or also a better load factor. The first weeks will be difficult I guess because ticket selling just starts 4 weeks before the flights are starting. We'll see.

hmmm, VLM were, until 11/2014, owned by German group Intro Aviation.
Guess who also owned Intersky until its unfortunate demise ?

Let's hope that they will start good in FDH.

I hope VLM service. We need carriers like them that fill a niche on routes that aren't appropriate to the low cost carriers.

How are routes performing from waterford, and also the Rotterdam and Southampton routes, Southampton started so badly but vlm stuck with it, its interesting that they've pulled the plug on bhx so soon, Geneva was a poor performer anyways.

Would an airline like VLM consider routes from SEN as the aircraft they use would be suitable for city destinations not viable for larger aircraft?

Talking route suggestion

Routes becoming vacant at BOH, very suitable for VLM.Loads all over 50%
VLM already transport AFC Bournemouth to away matches fro BOH.

I can think of lots of individual routes that might be suitable for VLM, but I'm struggling to pull them together into a coherent profitable strategy which involves VLM having a small number of bases instead of aircraft and staff spread thinly in lots of different places.

Am I perhaps being a little too closed minded in my opinion on VLM ?

Is there not an opportunity for them to build on what they've started at Luton? There are other routes both domestically and into Europe that could support an F50 type aircraft - Guernsey springs to mind along with destinations in France & perhaps Belgium too?

Wonder if VLM appreciate how popular they are getting - the saviour of regional routes everywhere...
