Rumours VLM are also looking at a MAN-WAT route.
Any updates on this? It would be a logical decision considering BE carried up to an 88% load factor on a dash 8 during S14. There is demand there for MAN and there are plenty of gaps in the based aircraft's schedule so who knows..... hopefully we'll get MAN back!

Also heard weak rumours that it may only be summer seasonal.

It would be better than nothing I suppose.
Would MAN be in operation this year?

Sorry Lads WATMAN is not on the cards this year, maybe 2016.

Not happening for summer, unlikely for winter either. Earliest wil be April 2016, VLM want a sustainable operation and such rushed decisions like adding MAN will not end well even if demand is there now. Higher chance of a second Sunday LTN I suspect.

I very much doubt it would be this year, but from what I've heard its a serious consideration.

Why does the new WAT-LTN flight show up as 'flexFlight' operated by VLM?

Looks like its to do with GDS access

WorldTicket is a service provider for the Danish airline FlexFlight and in cooperation with FlexFlight we have developed FlexFlight Sub-Hosting®; a unique opportunity for the small and mid-sized airlines to get GDS distribution without an IATA 2-letter code and without waiting for implementation time slots.

VLM seem to have reduced the frequency of some of their routes at Liege for the duration of the summer. Have they perhaps found that leisure demand in Liege isn't quite as high as had been hoped, or is there some alternative reason ?

24% LF.

There was talks about reducing the service before it started, but they seem to be going ahead with the full schedule. Apparently forward bookings are quite good. Mid 30's on some of the midweek evening flights.

BHX is increasing slightly too since the 2 days it operated in April. Loads wont be as high as BE numbers but that's down to the fact that the majority of the PAX back then were getting the train into London.

From as far as I can tell, VLM are there to stay.

April only had 6 flights
So 192 out of 300 is brilliant for a brand new route

Load factors for WAT services:

(Remember, *Each Fokker 50 holds 50pax. *Airports count both inbound and outbound passengers)

WAT-LTN: 192/800 = 24% LF
BHX-LTN: 35/200 = 17.5% LF

Of course, these figures are hardly representational of how the service will preform, it was started at short notice, with little publicity and the figures are only for 4 days

Luton should get over the 50% LF for May possibly 60% LF
Last week LTN had many flights with over 35 pax esp. the evening flights and weekend ones. Looking at VLM's website that trend seems to be likely for the coming week too! BHX will be slow to start as mentioned above due to a London route now in place, but there's plenty of advertising on both sides and the airline provide a great on-board service. Give both routes time, they will develop!

I note that a VLM exec is quoted as saying they want to get 300 hours a month utilisation from the aircraft. That's - to say the least - pretty ambitious.
Not necessarily.

The SU95 has been happily operating 300+h/m with Aeroflot and Intejet with a 99+% technical dispatch reliability.

Armavia allegedly had a number of issues with theirs, however it was both the first production model off the line and handed back to UAC shortly before they went bankrupt, so presumably they worked out they couldn't afford it/didn't have the right route structure for it.

The design and economics look competitive against the CRJ/ERJ, and it would be nice to see Russia's first serious project get off the ground to the full extent.

I believe the reduction of the Nice flights are actually a mistake. Belgian media reports quote VLM as saying that all Liege operations are cancelled from 16 June. Load factors across the 4 routes were apparently just 13%.
