Thomson Airways (2008) - Though this was via the merger of TFly/First Choice Airways.
British Airways Ltd who operate LCY-JFK service were formed in 2012.
I think those are your best answer... All can be found on Wiki

I think its got to be Easyjet. Started from scratch in 1995.
Jet 2 was born from Channel Express Est. 2002
Flybe rebranded from British European Est. 1979
Monarch Est. 1968
Virgin Est. 1984
British Airways born from various but branded British Airways in 1974
Bmi Regional Est. 1987
Thomson formed through Britannia and First Choice. Britannia was Est. in 1961 and the loss of the brand was a great shame.

The number of Type A AOCs has diminished significantly, from over 30 about 10 years ago, to about 12 now.
The CAA have become so draconian in making it so difficult to start up and the acidic effects of APD equate to the UK becoming a very very difficult place to start an airline.

I think you'll find that Britannia's first flight was 5 May 1962 and that was the date we celebrated for the various anniversaries.
I was lucky enough to spend 14 years there and in my 30 year aerospace career a more professional, safe and fun bunch of people I've yet to meet.

Kernow Harbour Air..... yesterday, so the newest to be formed.....though it hasn't actually flown anywhere yet....who said Plymouth needs an airport.
Draw your own conclusions?

I think we need to dig more. For example EasyJet took a 40% stake in TEA Basel in March 1998, and TEA Basel started operation nine years earlier than EasyJet.
Eastern Airways was founded in 1997 - two years more recent than EasyJet. But again there is a root going back; Air Kilroe Ltd -> Standardpoint Ltd Sept. 1995. All in all Eastern Airways seems to be the British airline with the shallowest roots.

re: Blue Islands
etc etc
It seems the answer may well be "Global Supply Systems" 2001 with a type A.
Edit: Oh apparently they dont exist anymore?? lol
I guess its Air Tanker.
The airline was formally established in 2001 (but had been operating since 1999 as a small operation) by Le Cocq's Stores in Alderney and was initially known as Le Cocq's Airlink.

Alderney isn't UK!

A couple of others:
Air Wales in 2000 upgraded to type A in 2004
Air South west in about 2004
Silverjet around 2006
Forget the name but 767 operator out of EMA did a couple of flights to the Sub-continent.

Alderney, admittedly with the help of it's Norman brethren, conquered the British Isles in 1066. There have been a few changes since then, admittedly, but the Islands remain a benign and friendly overseer of their hard won territory to the North. The Duke of Normandy remains a much loved Head of State from her palace in London and they all lived happily ever after
Le Cocq's started by just ferrying supplies to their store from Cherbourg, before taking a few passengers and then, before the Blue Islands incarnation, traded as Rockhopper.

Owned a single aircraft (767) which flew for a couple of months before the company folded and then it sat by the hangars for about 3 years before being cut up for spares.

Cello Aviation UK AOC 2373 (BHX) was the last Type A operating licence to be awarded by the UK CAA in July 2010 and therefore to my knowledge the last UK Airline to be started from nothing..............?
