What next? I guess nobody knows that answer. It can either be good and they expand their air routes out of Southend and eventually Carlisle, and make a good profit on SEN, or if the routes are wrongly chosen, poor supported for whatever reason, wrong aircraft chosen for the operation, it could all go tits up very quickly. I hope not. One of my boyhood dreams was to have TOPHAT AIRLINES and I had a schedule of services centred on Southend operations. The tourist cities of Prague, Budapest, Copenhagen, Paris, Nice, etc haven't been tapped yet. Wait and see with fingers crossed.

They seem reasonably astute so I am guessing they have the airline ring fenced so as not to bring down the entire group one day. Airlines historically go belly up on a cyclical basis. In the US they have chapter 11 protection which is why most of their majors are still around. In The rest of the world if your a national airline then it usually results in a bailout and cash injection. Sadly if your small fry then it's bust, merger or takeover.

Be patient, good things happen to those that wait. I spent 30 years watching and waiting at Luton, often in despair as small carriers that I thought were doing well just went bust or moved to other airports. Then one day an airline called easyjet with just two aircraft started flying from Luton. The rest is history....
