Thumbs down CWL full Sat

to the point they're unable to accept another single aircraft.
Believe parking is the problem - on an airport the size of CWL ???(anyone got a list of types/numbers expected/booked??)
If this is the case, Cardiff seems unsuited to holding major events so maybe move the FA Cup Final to somewhere capable of handling the logistics.

Dont forget CWL still has some retired 747 classics sitting on it, they take up a bit of space.

I guess that with the FA cup alot of aircraft will be flying in, maybe with only three days to go, you left it a little late to book your spot??

Cool

It wasn't very full when I landed there rather late in the evening. Unless you count full of cross wind, turbulence, torrential rain, etc. There's lovely.

They are expecting around 40 aircraft including 2 747's with that along with the other airlines flying in and out, they are restricting GA traffic and unless you have booked a slot you have no chance, you should have thought of this earlier.

CWL is a regional airport not Heathrow they still have a lot of BA 747's and 777's parked up and now we are in the summer season you will find a lot especially on the weekend of Britannia, Airtours sorry...My Travel Airlines, Air 2000 as well as the spanish Airlines flying in and out.

I understand that European will be sending two of their B742's from LGW and I heard possibly an Excel 767 going too?

Thumbs down

all I want is a little piece of grass and some go juice - quite willing even to drop pax off position out and then in again to retrieve them - they'll kindly allow me in again after 2104hrs, which is some hours after the refuellers have gone home.

Andymac it is your own fault did you not realise that on FA cup final day that the airport was not going to be busy, you should have thought of it before, you have no-one else to blame but yourself.

it is my customers who decide where + when they want to go and up to us to try and fulfil their needs. Sure we could have booked slots for every one of our fleet in anticipation, but that's inconsiderate and greedy. If this problem was so clearly forseen, couldn't arrangements have been made with St Athan to be available for overspill, seeing as the other alternates are a considerable road distance?

>couldn't arrangements have been made with St Athan to be available for overspill,...

No, not really.

Cardiff Air traffic and St Athan Air Traffic are effectively one. St Athan approach is done in the same room as Cardiff's.

Also remember Cardiff ATC have an area function and work stuff in and out of Bristol, Filton, Cardifff Heliport along with the LARS service - and there's only two controllers and one ATSA!

Cardiff ATC will be working to near capacity on Saturday. Extra staff will be in and extra frequencies will be available - but there is a limit.

Sorry
