A warning to other airport users.

I recently had a rental with Europcar. I refulled the car to its maximum at a pertrol station in L24 near to the airport. The pump cut out because the tank was full. The guage did not show 8/8. It showed 7/8. Upon returning the car I showed my receipts to the agent and he explained that the vehicle had a known fault. He said that he would take the vehicle to get pertol and it would be evident that once he attempted to fill up the vehicle that it would accept no more fuel. I was told to sign the return form since he could only document what was visible on the display - however he said that if the vehicle would accept no more fuel it would not result in a charge.

I was focused on signing to confirm there was no damage. Having heard of such scams. Perhaps I should have wrote I did not agree to the fuel reading.

Well, low and behold. I was charged for fuel. I've made a complaint to Europcar.

I understand that an agent / contractor is not the responsiblitiy of the airport, but I thought it may be helpful to warn others.

It does not present a positive impression. I'm often at the airport so the desk can expect a visit to discuss the matter.

The amount is trivial. Its the principal.

Does anyone have any other sugegsted course of action?

The Liverpool thread is a quiet one as it is without pointless posts.

Now if it concerned a new airline or a new route announcement fair enough!

I recently used LPL for the first time (I live 150 miles away), and was impressed. Compared to south-east airports it is uncrowded, spacious and efficient. Car parks close to the terminal, decent hotels close by (one even opposite the terminal), short walks to the aircraft.
My only negative - and it's minor - is that the waiting area for UK Border is too small. Two arrivals meant that the queue snaked up the stairs.
The reason for my choice of LPL was that I saved almost £400 on similarly-timed flights from Bristol or Gatwick.

Which probably says the flights are not as well patronised as BRS and LGW

Although of course at standard Treasury car mileage rates, that 300 mile round trip cost £135.

Under patronised or not, it's still a much more pleasant experience, as a passenger than many of its competitors. Everything close at hand, plenty of airside facilities. Ok no airbridges and often queueing on return at immigration, which the airport is trying to address. But what price do you put on a better travelling experience?

Hamburg

Too much capacity, similarly Germanwings are reducing MAN - Hamburg.

...but the outbound was well over 90% full, inbound 100% (according to crew).

Anyone can fill a plane these days....... you stimulate demand. But by stimulating demand you normally end up selling very cheap fares and as chaps1954 says, that leads to poor yield.

Of course, it might not be indicative of the routes outlook. If it's a new route, those cheap fares can be a hook to stimulate demand and then they may rise as the route grows and matures.

Pointless trying to post anything positive about LPL mate, You will always find posters who live not to far away trying to give a negative view.

I appreciated and agreed with your post, smashing Airport to fly from but the Passport control needs sorting.

There's nothing tribal about my comments. My employer is successful at both MAN and LPL and long may that continue because I want my colleagues to have job security wherever they are based.

My comment about anybody being able to fill a plane is a sentiment regardless of whether it is MAN or LPL.

What I will say is that on the few occasions I frequent the LPL forum, there are some who get needlessly defensive. It's an airport for heavens sake.
