Arrow Travel City Direct to Operate Overseas this Summer

Heard a rumour that tour operator Travel City Direct will be operating transatlantic holiday flights using 747s this summer.

Any more information?

By the way, this is certainly bad news for ATA if true because they are the airline that TCD has been using to operate such flights.

This forum seems to be a "collection ground" for ex-Rumours and News topics.

I consider this thread a rumour, and it is certainly nothing to do with an airport or specific route, so why was it moved here?

I was hoping for an answer, but I am not likely to get many here because there is less traffic on this particular area.

Oh well; moderators will be moderators . . . I doubt whether this topic would've run to 100 pages and cluttered up too much R&N space anyway!

Anyway, anybody got any information?

European 747 to operate MAN-Sanford flights on Thu, Fri, Sat for Travel City Direct - 440 seat aircraft. TCD are also understood to be in discussions with two suppliers for short-haul flying this year for the first time.

Various other aircraft drifting through Manchester - the summer looks like it will be a bloodbath as based aircraft include:

Transjet MD83
Transjet 747 at weekends
MD Airlines Tristar
European 747
Astraeus 737
Azzurra Air 737-700

Will all of this foreign capacity really fly?

Wink

With reference to 'will all this foreign traffic fly?' then Azzurra Air 737 flights are programmed through Newcastle this summer and i bet quite a few of the other ones will appear around and about the place during the course of the season.

EAC 747 is programmed to operate the lourdes pilgrimage flight this summer too.

p.s. who are MD Airlines?
