thanks for the reply.. at least it didn't take too long to fix it..
I was sat in 8a and had some great views when the cloud cleared over france and down into spain. unfortunately my camera was in the overhead when the two fast jets whizzed past....
Thanks johnny to you and your crew for pleasant and comfortable flight..

Was it your 'considerable' girth?
Watch it Rudolf, otherwise you'll end up with a red nose

Saw them coming from a way off, wasn't sure what they were at first till they were almost on top of us, nice sight. Just glad they weren't coming for a practise on me, that would have capped my check flight right off!!

Didnt realise jet 2 aircraft had APU,s fitted judging by the number of times ive seen air start trucks hooked up to them on stand....
Thought maybe it was some kind of weight reduction exercise.

Jet2 parent orders three more Boeing 737-800s | Manufacturers content from ATWOnline

I'm guessing the majority of these now 30 new aircraft must be replacements if PM's professed desire to have 70 aircraft in the fleet is true, as they're already at 62. Should certainly increase their capacity replacing 300's with 800's.

Does anyone know if the purchase of 30 new 737-800s is part of a plan to eventually go to a simplified 1 aircraft type fleet? If so when are the 737 - 300s and 757s likely to leave the fleet? I assume that as Jet2 are still picking up used 737-800s that they intend to run a mixed fleet of new and second hand for some time.

Thumbs up

Any Spotters/Jet2_738 want to take a shot as to who/type the wet/damp leases will be this summer?

I guess they've got better things to do than predict a known, yearly, occurrence.

Based A/C

Does anyone know what aircraft will be based at East Midlands for S16? few months back they said they would be basing larger aircraft at MAN, LBA & EMA. Not sure if that meant replacing the 737-300's with more -800's.

... Privilege will NOT be turning up

757 and 300 fleet due to retire post 2020. Both are being refitted with expensive equipment, so unlikely to be disappearing soon. Presumably most 757s will stay. Significant money has been spent fitting winglets to some 300s and not others, which tells its own tale.

As to consolidation towards a streamline 800 fleet; those "in the know", you know, those "knowledgable" management pilots who assured us Airbus was a done deal, are now telling us that the 30 new NGs may include 900ERs. And even more laughable, a Max or two!

Nothing is 100% confirmed but this is what is being speculated and I'm confident it will happen.

I believe more information will be available in the New Year once plans have been finalised.

Watch this Space.

It's safe to say Privlidge won't be returning however.

I think the 75's (well, some at least) are planned to hang on until 2023.

Instead of G-POWM maybe. Don't UX aircraft have business class seating though? So won't be 189Y interchangeable. Mind you G-POWM was 180Y.

An A320/A321 MAN Based - Unsure of Operator
