Do Jet2 have airport standby crews? Surely it would save the time waiting for the crew to travel to the airport?

In addition to be claiming more than the ticket price.
The ticket price is neither here nor there. The airline has contracted to get me from A>B for say (albeit absurdly) 2p. It did so 'cos yield management system allowed it to sell me that contract on assumption that 2p in the till was better than an empty seat. It's not my concern if, in a titsup scenario, it costs the airline £200 to get me home.

If that's a problem then the yield management system needs a tweek.

No...never do ASBY's at Jet2...!!!! Always get food and paid well too! Oh and the management are wonderful and the company CEO is 100% sane!

Scratching suffers every day of his life at the hands of Jet2, he works for them...and boy in Summer 2015 his he going to know it!
That's a little quick off the mark don't you think? Be proud of who you work for scratchingthesky, don't let trolls (^^) put you down. Jet2 are an ever expanding airline, not an airline that is having to cut back drastically like MON. Sean Dillon, who do you work for now then (if anyone)? People are always going to have different opinions to you - you obviously can't stand Jet2, and you take any given opportune to put them down. Just remember that others will have a completely different opinion also!

And as always "Airliner World Jet2_738" talks perfect sense! Go do your homework!!!
You see, I am not one to go around and label people, just because they have a different opinion to me. I am sure you will have probably read Airliner World a fair share of times. I am not associated with Airliner World, and besides, why on earth are you uprooting such name. Once is enough.

@Jet2_738: You're lecturing people on having an opinion! You mean as long as that opinion is pro LS. And trolling and bullying too! Classic. Your last post could literally be directed back at you, and then some.

Sean Dillon has the best bit of advice I've seen in a long time - go away.

You all know what the doctor ordered, just take a bit of your own medicine! You know how immature, and a non adultly manner it is (quote fa2fi, as he said, in a lecture to me) to tell people to simply go away. There's no need to gang up on me.

I work for Jet2!
You should hope that none of your managers see what you have wrote on here. But then again, you have your opinions, and you choose how to air them. But then it begs the question - if you don't like your job at Jet2, then why are you still there? You go on at scratchingthesky:

Scratching suffers every day of his life at the hands of Jet2, he works for them...and boy in Summer 2015 his he going to know it!
If you think he suffers, then obviously you must be too. If in Summer 2015, he is going to know how much he will suffer, then you must, as a smart person, want to be out of there. You describe Jet2 as a sweatshop of a place to work - You rant on about how so many staff are leaving, yet you haven't. Is that not a little contradictory?

You don't respect other people's opinions though, if you don't agree with people you reply sarcastically and with bold text (implies shouting). Reply #2149 is a perfect example of this.

Your tone is immature and extremely rude. When people try to discuss things you gloss over replies that you don't agree with or argue with them. There are numerous examples of this throughout the thread, by my personal favourite has to be: 'As above, I don't understand why you are bringing Ryanair and Easyjet into this... If your compassion for these airlines is just too strong, I am sure that there is another sub forum dedicated to each of these airlines, where you can discuss your deep, deep love affair'.

Nice. Mature. My italics and highlight btw.

That's great. The problem is you don't use any italics at all! I have right to argue do I not? The bold in the above quotation is for emphasis only. I do not in anyway imply an abusive tone, nor would I like anyone to believe I imply such thing. If we are picking out each others favourite comments from the thread, mine would have to be; (It isn't there no more - It said: I think we all know who it is... and this was followed by:

[Originally from paully]

Fa
I think we all know who it is....did he get the red card under his previous incarnation???
I don't know who you imply I am, but I am pretty certain that you don't know me. If not that one, then;

Yes. I think it is time to give it his thread a miss. It was always very informative and good craic on this thread until Jet2's Minister for Information (Jet2_738) came along.
You don't agree with me. That's fine. So at first I am Airliner World, and then Jet2's Minister for information. Name calling - are you really that immature?

Your tone is immature and extremely rude.
Why thank you very much. I respect your opinion. Though can't you only measure tone by hearing someone's voice, and is it not down to perception alone?

Anyway, on a more relevant note, G-LSAJ is now en route back to EMA, with an ETA of before 01:30

I normally ignore over excited teenagers, but since you have quoted me I will reply..You get all the flack you do because you are not mature. You don`t really have anything intelligent to say.You talk and try to reason like someone of tender years, which as a result means your sense of humour hasn`t developed, Humility is a trait you have not yet been exposed to.

Sure we all went through a growing up process but didnt try to argue with senior airline Captains on issues we know nothing about..My son is a senior ground engineer but I would`nt dream of arguing techical stuff with him..Do you get my point lad?

Finally please heed this advice, I know you have a deep and abiding love of aviation and that will live with you all your life, nowt wrong with that. But always remember the wise words of the late great Sir Winston Churchill who said...Its always better to sit down and say nothing, letting everyone think you are a fool, rather than standing up, opening your mouth and proving it..

Read observe and listen..

Jet2

This is getting very boring. I don't care who does or doesn't work for jet2.
Can we all put our willies away and move on.

I will settle for that - I myself think that it is becoming rather tedious now.

G-LSAI has this morning been from LBA to KRK as EXS6040, and is currently en route from KRK as EXS6041. Does anyone know for which purpose it has made such trip, or is is just a charter (if so who for)?

It's operating a charter. I understand that it took some local school kids out to see the Auschwitz concentration camp museum.

Jet2_738: Ive been watching these forums for many years and have participated in them for several years and never in my time have I saw one user annoy so many people in such a short period of time. Nor have I seen so little respect for other users as I have from you in a long time.

Thanks very much. It often annoys me when on fr24, you see an aircraft, with a call sign, but without a destination!

Jet2 have taken the EU261 legislation very seriously they have a not insignificant number of aircraft and crew on Airport stand by to mitigate any delay for the fare paying passenger.
The B752s were concentrated at LBA and MAN partly for this reason and have been effectively used to mitigate delays from UK airports. The weakness in the system is obvious when there is a delay in the Canary Islands, as there is no way of getting a replacement aircraft there within less than 5 or 6 hours. Perhaps a solution might be found by basing a B752 and stby crew there on a rotation basis. The Canary Islands are an important summer and winter destination and served with frequent flights from most J2 UK bases and would need stby aircraft cover. The other area that may be of concern in the summer months would be Cyprus, Greece and Turkey but perhaps a similar Canary Islands solution with rotational B752s at Cyprus could help solve the possible delays at the Eastern destinations.

The two ALC B733s could only rarely be used for the purpose of covering for delayed passengers and the reason for their being based at ALC during last summer was probably for other promotional or operational purposes.

Other airlines that have a similar operation as J2, namely Thomson, Thomas Cook and Monarch must also be assessing the situation of delays due to unserviceable aircraft. Taking the CAA statistics on complaints from customers for those airlines, it would seem that J2 has stolen the lead on all of them and is coping very well maintaining passengers reasonably happy.

Yes it is. The trouble is people mank and moan about where they are mostly because they want to be somewhere else but they don't have the necessary requirements to actually go. It makes them all bitter and angry when they see their peers earning more and flying newer kit, especially if they don't have 35 years under their belts.

G-JZHA was flying under a Norwegian callsign yesterday. That is probably what was meant.
