Fastest Growing Airport
Almost every airport in the UK describes itself in the media as the 'fastest growing airport in the UK'. Coates, the EMA CEO has just used the term whilst being interviewed about the Easy withdrawal.
So which airport really does meet this description and why?!

Certainly fastest growing.
Or do you need passengers and aircraft as well as stands and buildings ?
Ask Ryanair they are sure to know, or will do when they announce it !

East Mids was the fastest growing airport in the UK in 2008 (+3.8%), but only if you ignore Belfast City (+17.5%), London City (+12.0%), Bristol (+5.7%) and Birmingham (+4.3%)!!
EMA was however the second fastest growing in 2007 and third fastest growing in 2006, out of the 20 largest airports in the UK, which is perhaps what the CEO recalls?

Depends on what is meant by "fastest growing". Highest % growth, or biggest increase in number of passengers, or most new routes, or most new airlines, or whatever other formulation the airport PR people can come up with,...
