I asked the question of my Silver pilot friend why no one really posts from "Inside" and their response is they just dont bother biting, and if its not damning enough for some of the vultures on PPRUNE its not worth reading Its all the bad press posted and never the good press. Just doesn't make good reading... I can't see why everyone seems to want to see them fail - I havent been on here in ages and can not see why some ppl just have nothing good to say about a great airline - Here here on the British prodcut comment! Its back to basics and after the poor - in fact incredibly poor customer service I have had from my window company I wish more companies remembered good old fashioned customer service! Not suprised to see said company on watchdog today....but thats for another forum.
Now SJ is closer to my heart, as I now have family who have started working in the office and on hearing what she says, I also see why they are still a happy bunch.. If my own airline was getting the constant hammering as Silverjet does then I would be so unhappy, I think they should post all the good feedback I have been lucky to see. Good luck to all the Silverjet employees - The morale is still high and the product is working better than ever so I really hope for all its a positive future! Fingers crossed for you all.

Cancelations EWR - LTN due to "technical modifications" 30th may

Can any one shed light on what "Technical modifications" are being made that have caused the 22:30 EWR -> LTN on May 30th to be cancelled?

According to the Silverjet call centre the late flight on this route is being cancelled for around 10 nights at the end of May.

The flight was cancelled today, we found out when we logged in to check details, and called because half our reservation had disappeared.

Not very Silverised that we had to call to find out what that meant

There is a "C" check due and when they had 5 a/c planned it was no problem, but with only three it means flights pulled.

so it seems anyone that actually travels is very happy with the travel experience, as they should be with that pax/crew ratio but that SJ are not good at non-flight customer care and terrible at Shareholder care.....

Can you believe not being told your return sector has been cancelled til you log in to check????

That is of course one of the problems with travelling with any airline with a very small fleet, one aircraft goes in for a check (which on 18-23 year old aircraft are usually long c-checks) and a third of the flying programme has to be cancelled.

I wish SJ all the very best, I have 2 friends that work for SJ so have a vested interest, one only hopes that people on the inside are reading some of the comments and will learn from them.

honest frank

Why do you wish you were me?

I know that my comments on an are perhaps seen as harsh by some, but they are based on known facts.

I wish no one any harm who works there, but I think your future is questionable at least.

Share price back down to 15pence. A classic ramp up and slip back.
remember folks, buy the story (takeover) and sell the fact (no buyer seen yet).

I think honest frank was referring to your statement about having cash to burn!

If you have, I wish I were you too but I suspect it was really intended as irony!

In reference to post about Mr Bridger

You'll be pleased to know from the inside MR B is screwing up this one too!
Of course we are all worried about job security, however we all enjoy working for silverjet and apart from Mr B trying to make us work 24/7 for 3p an hour, it's a great company to work for. As they say "what will be, will be" no point getting all stressed out over it!

SJ Customer Care

Maybe I am lucky, but my experience of SJ customer care is the opposite to some of the posts. I have a reservation in July and I have aleady had an e-mail to confirm a change of flight timings and an apology that the arrival in Newark will be later than originally planned.

EOS is the one

EOS has been making a large loss but has just announced yesterday that one of its backers is giving it an extra $50m (subject to contracts). Confulsingly todays Sunday times reported that it needs another $50m but not that the money has been offered. EOS has been doing plenty of discounting and compainion flys free offers which has closed the price gap between it and Silverjet. It looks like EOS is going to be the VHS and Silverjet the Betamax in this market. EOS is eating into all of Silverjet markets. The yanks seem keener to invest and keep investing.

Would seem that way. The FT mentions that EOS have already burnt their way through some $210m since they launched(not including this last $50m) and made an operating loss of $39m for the first 9 months of 2007. Obviously they don't get the same "flack" as Silverjet who are listed on the SE and are subject to public scrutiny.

Does that make BA and Virgin DVDs ?

Because we all know what has happened to VHS and Betamax.

I think you will find that BA/VS are HD and EOS are Blu-ray.

In terms of profitability to date and extrapolation of possible shareholder value, the whole point to point all premium sector appears more like native american smoke signals than VHS, DVD or BluRay.

To say that the business model that has burnt USD210m in three years is better than the one that has a negative margin of over -60% in 2007 is currently like debating if it is better to cross the Atlantic on the Titanic or the R101 airship.

Capacity

BA are dropping MAN - JFK. what over capacity changes are due on UK to newyork routes. With exchange rates so bad for travel to euroland the US could be popular come the summer. Also does anyone know what the ratio of US to UK bound travelers is?

Should I assume Silverjet mosly carries brits?

Silverjet Experience

Just flew into EWR on the 18:00 Silverjet Y70105 from Luton - first time I've tried it.

And a very good experience it was too - can't beat it for the price. Whether or not the business model is viable is another question, but I really hope they succeed because the passenger experience knocks BA and VS into a cocked hat (as my grandmother would have said) - and I have no intention of going to New York any other way from now on.

Usual disclaimer - I'm just a passenger and have no connections with any airline.

Best Regards,

Atlantean
