So they're filing for bankruptcy I see.

Q: What if I paid by check or cash can I still get a refund?
A: You can file a claim with the Bankruptcy Court.

True
I live in the Islands and yes they are closing. This will hurt a lot of people. There was a lady crying earlier in my wife's office when she heard the news. Aloha was like a old and trusted friend to us here. We will miss the Airline.

Unfortunately, unfair competition has succeeded in driving us out of business
I flew on Aloha on my honeymoon, Kahului-Honolulu (recorded the entire flight on my camcorder)
.
Everything is under control.

A longer AP article. Too bad. I flew it between the islands and thought it was a fine airline.
The "unfair competition" comment seems to be a reference to "predatory pricing" by go! airlines, according to this article.

Aloha closes doors.
Aloha closes doors.
Having been a victin of the greed and mismanagement of Ken Rowe, Michel Leblanc and Angus Kinnear, I truly empathize with these folks and their families. The state of Hawaii does not need 1900 more people unemployed.

Despite the upcoming hurdles, hopefully some talented people will find their way to Canada and Westjet.

Wrong!
Dear 69...Two out of three ain't bad, and while I can sympathise with the plight of those who may lose their jobs, there are no comparisons to be made with your greedy canucks. (Angus had ZERO to do with the failure of your precious previous airline. You might want to thank Mr. Lecky for that one.) Move along from the failures of your Canadian charter companies and let it go...As for those in the Aloha predicament, they most likely can't even start the process of finding work in Canada...can you think why? Sorry for the hi jack....My sincere sympathy to those who are in a bind. Been there and it's really hard to take. Mahalo to the Aloha employees for all the nice things they did for us. We always really enjoyed your ailrine.
Aloha...
Aloha...
