Go on, give us a clue: where in the world do you want the data for?
For UK routes (including UK-to-international airport pairs), the CAA has excellent data (www.caa.co.uk).
I believe there is also publicly-available data for US-originating city pairs but I'm not sure of the source (BTS?).
IATA may have some relevant data but I don't recall if they provide public data down to city-pair level.

Just want to rank city pairs, domestic or international, by traffic e.g I expect No 1 is LON-NYC (not worried about actual airport breakdown). I've searched IATA and ICAO sites and the data may be there somewhere but I've yet to find it. I agree that I can access some data from national institutions such as the CAA and FAA but it would be tricky, not to say time-consuming, to try to do this country by country. I've seen the data in various surveys in the past so it's got to be available somewhere. I know could just ask e.g. Airclaims but it would cost and I'm bit of a cheapskate!

Well, this week the new AVE (Spanish version of TGV) started between Madrid and Barcelona (3 hrs 40m) so that might change the position. If the quality of the new service is anything like Madrid-Sevilla, then Iberia are going to take quite a hit.

I was but, in fact, the airport - airport figures were quite useful anyway. Just added up the relevant numbers to get the city pair data I needed.

If you look at the above posts about the DUB-London data you'll see your results are skewed. Since on an individual route basis non of those sectors are on your list of the top 100.
Just a quick analysis of the Annual 2006 data, the total passengers on Dublin - London was 4,267,546
To fit it into the above table, just divided by two would give you 2,133,773 as one sector. That would place it well into the top 50 of the actual results instead of not at all.

Go Edi.....thin you'll find that the annual frequency of flights to London is far greater than from EDI. Additionally the capacity ex Dub is far higher, possibly by a factor of 3, Edi's made up to date by D328s, I know they've been replaced by RJs, bit EDI will always lag behind. Hope is of help.

I am well aware of that and certainly wasn't expecting EDI-LON to have a higher number of pax than DUB-LON. I was just curious as to how the numbers compared, hence:
Would be interesting to see how it compares to DUB-LON.

The last year for which there are full statistics is 2006. In terms of city pairs, the traffic that year was
Dublin-London: 4,267,546
Edinburgh-London: 3,477,242
So they aren't that far apart from each other, but Dublin still has a healthy enough lead.
