Decision has already been made. Minister for transport has announced only KIR & CFN routes will go to tender as PSO this year, LDY, NOC, GWY open to commercial use (SXL if it can remain open).
One consideration for a new operator on these routes is the lost revenue to airports may mean some cannot continue to operate redeye operating hours.

Flights may not be commerically viable if they operate as point to point from dub but LDY-SXL-DUB for example may pick up enough passengers or even via BHD/BFS for exampl. Someling more akin to the Loganiar opeartion in Scotland mite work with smaeller airframes

Manx2 and LDY
there has been speculation about Manx 2 being able to operate viably on the Dub-LDY route. Reference has been made to indirect flights via Sligo and BHD/BFS and also to how Loganair seemed to make a go of the route in the past.
Loganair operated the smaller SF340 compared to the Aer Arann ATR42 but, if my memory is right, also served Manchester and/or Glasgow with the same aircraft.
The former Jersey European did a Dub - LDY - BHD type curcle routeing for a period but that was a long time ago (with Shorts 360s)
Manx2 might be able to make a go of it - they seem to be able to work with relatively low numbers

I would suggest with the population size of ireland and tourists numbers the only way forward for internal airservices are multi sector with much smaller a/c than that used by RE.

Dailymail reporting upto 8 as well. Also saying that it occurred on the 3rd attempt to land. 1st go around on R17, then a go around on R35, then a final 3rd attempt on R17 again.

A Fairchild Metroliner operated by Flightline BCN on behalf of Manx2 which crashed at Cork airport this morning has been identified as bearing the registration number EC-ITP.
The aircraft was built in 1992 and powered by a pair of Garrett TPE331 turboprop engines.
The Irish Aviation Authority confirms that the aircraft had first carried out an instrument landing system approach to runway 17 at Cork, but the crew made the decision to go around.
The aircraft then attempted an approach to runway 35 but abandoned that also, and held off for "about 20min" before making its fatal ILS approach to runway 17.
When the aircraft came to a halt beside the runway it was inverted, and the airport rescue crew had to extinguish a fire.
The runway visual range was reported as 400m in fog, which is below the Category 1 approach minima that the Metroliner would have required. The crew had not reported any aircraft malfunction.
Latest reports suggest that six of the 10 passengers and two crew members on board the aircraft lost their lives.

From 29th October Manx2.com is adding a Saturday service to Newcastle in addition to its existing schedule. The new service will depart the Isle of Man at 1055 and return from Newcastle at 1325.
