“PJ” has 42 years experience in the aviation industry. PJ was Managing Director of TransMeridian Airlines in the United Kingdom before launching HeavyLift Cargo Airlines Limited. After eight years of profitable operations, which saw HeavyLift, developed into the world leader in the movement of outsize cargo PJ left HeavyLift to return to Ireland. As Ryanair Group Chief Executive, PJ managed the business during a critical period of the company’s development and move to its Stansted base in the United Kingdom. When PJ joined Ryanair, the Company was losing Ł8 Million per annum, he left the Company after completing a re-organization of its business and the company was profitable. PJ left Ryanair to launch his own airline, TransAer that had 10 years of successful operations until it closed in October 2000, due to the adverse effect of the Kosovo War and the collapse of a related US airline. PJ founded EUjet in 2002 before selling the airline to PlaneStation PLC Group in 2004. PJ has a long association with Douglas Aviation and has recently been appointed Chairman.

Reminds me of that "Inverse Midas Touch" thing - everything "Inverse Midas" touches turns to s**t.

Is there a suggestion that PJ was lining his own pockets or doing something he shouldn't have been while at any of the 3/4 other carriers?

If so, then there could be a legal proceedng to ban him from being a director, etc. However, if the said entities wnet bust purely for commercial reasons, then there are no legal grounds to stop anyone running any company. While he was at FR, things went well, the airline had a strong demand for its flights and a wealthy backer willing to pour money into the operation. PJ was also surropunded by some talented people. His later ventures might not have been as well funded, have inferior routes/contracts/costs, etc. Certainly an airline with an SNN base has yet to make a major go of things, even FR are struggling there, as per quarterly statements.
