Air Sylhet

I was in Madrid on Tuesday and a B757 in part Gadair colours with
Air Sylhet titles was parked up with the doors open.

It was an Icelandair machine.

I guess they have beaten RBA to getting international service.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong but there was approx 200 pax. Lets hope they can continue with these sorts of loads, but you have to wonder what sort of revenue they have generated from these initial tickets. I don’t think I would be willing to part with my cash to an airline that had never flown before now and has no reputation.

Lets hope they succeed

But it appears that 200 others were willing to. If correct not a bad start, however there is a proven market, Birmingham - Amritsar has less flights on it at the moment than for several years.

Not sure about starting with the rainy season fast approaching when loads are usualy poor.

That worked well then..................

Akal Air (a trading style of Air Sylhet) who only started up on the 4th April 2009, have now suspended their services to Amritsar (via Vienna) until further notice. While they had hoped to operate through the low season - and indeed add a stop in Vienna (Austria) in the current economic climate this has not proved to be viable.

The small 30 years old aircraft (which was leased from Gadair monthly cost £85,000) operated twice weekly flights to Amritsar, for not making the monthly payment, the aircraft has taken by Gadair in Madrid.

Thumbs down

Sorry but what do they expect when they only had a mere 1.5 million pounds to run the airline which was headed by a accountant and a restaurant owner

The only aviation person on the board was Kim whom they put in charge of cabin crews come on, the UK CAA didnt give them an AOC for good reason but they managed to get a Austrian one for a mere investment of 200 000 euros so am led to believe.

They never had a solid business plan from MD83 to then A320 then 757 from Charter to ACMI then into scheduled services all on a budget of 1.5 mil, some routes on paper seem like a gold mine waiting to be found but how can it be when those trying to find it have never been mining before at least they lasted a few more months that I though they would have.

Anyone know the latest on what will happen to thier AOC or to poor old Kabir Khan, but mostly am worried about Kim who happens to be the poor guy in the middle of 2 waring chairmen who had no clue

Nothing will happen to their AOC. It is worthless. You can't sell them.
