Ah so that explains it then, my god though the beeb need to shut up and tbh bugger off from the airport unless its something good they have to report. How the heck can an airline help it if part of the engine gets injested.

All airlines suffer, its just unfortunate that the BBC pick on FJE!
Jet2 has a rough time... seems to be sorted now thought, TOM has a bit of a bad month for july with the odd 767-200 being sent up to help sort things out. and TCX had a 3hr delay on 1 flight knocked on for about a fortnight, XL have been having problems, mostly with the 737-800s
Whenver im at aiport that finnair 757 or XL 738 is always parked up, not as much flying going on for them as usual then?

Jet2 757s
Yeah very common for airlines to rotate aircraft.
AI and AA were swapped in TFS on fri night, for about a week we think due to routine maintenace on AA - its required in the hangar in LBA.
The 757s havnt been swapped around that much, AA has been based in NCL since march, AC was swapped with AE about 5 weeks ago. AG showed up for a few days the other week after AC suffered a few problems in TFS.
So really only 4 or 5 swaps, im sure the likes of TOM, TCX or MYT have done more swaps than that as they tend to rotate aircraft quite often, current MYT unit is the 3rd or 4th reg ive seen up here since May

Flyjet and the Media
Having seen the reports on the local media, it certainly appears that both the local BBC and that guy from the Airport authority are definately no friends of Flyjet. What they don't seem to realise is that Flyjet is a business generating more business for Newcastle Airport, who also employ locally based people. What has this constant media frenzy made those people feel like? I am not defending FJE in any manner, have never flown with them so do not know what they are like, however they are a small airline and need to be given a chance. Judging by what was said, it does appear their days are numbered and passengers are aware of the negative reputation they now have.
Hopefully Kosmar/Olympic will add more flights to the programme, it would be a great shame to loose some of the destinations they offer, as it something away from the usual PMI, ALC and AGP!

Hi,
Does anyone know who, if anybody, will be doing Flyjet's routes?
I hear, mostly through GalleyFM, that Jet2 may be considering them??
And if so, what were their routes and does that mean there is a posibility I will have to go to Sham??

Nobody will be flying the routes operated by FJE last winter, as the charters were carried out on behalf of the XL group. They have decided that their winter programme was not viable for whatever reason, therefore no flights will be offered. As for the summer FJE routes, they will be operated by Air Malta next summer, with some ammedments and no SSH.
Jet2 have introduced LPA and ACE, which were flown by XL/FJE so they have possibly jumped in to fill the gap. Maybe they will do the same with the likes of FUE, PFO and SSH (Is there not strict operating legislation when considering a route to SSH as it is outside EU. I remember KM could not operate out of BRS for some similar kind of reason?).

Looks like one of the Boeings from NCL will be going to Belfast. several new routes to be added there( some in competition with Jet2 ) from Oct making them a 6 aircraft base.

Yep I have a friend due out on the Monastir tomorrow
Seems one aircraft went tech in TFS, pinched it for the MAN or went back to MAN (maybe MAN a/c went tech) and then it positioned up to NCL from MAN this morning (same aircraft FCLG) to do the (very late) Bourgas. The other aircraft off the other diagram was pinched to do the Palma. That left the Faro with no aircraft.

Yes and BIG E still tries to put some spin and peddle the official EZY line that they aren't loosing interest in NCL. Looks like it to me. Loads of expansion from most UK bases this Winter except NCL where the opposite is true. Looks like they are doing an East Midlands on us, that base has been flat now for a couple of years following a similar reduction in routes/rotations a couple of years ago. Lets hope we can get Ryanair in, although doubtful, as they certainly ramped up when Easy started contracting.
The reduction in routes/rotations on the scale we have had at NCL can never be classed as consolodation, Stansted is a good example of this good route, good loads - certainly not struggling and the rotations slashed down to 3. The new timetable I suspect will actually affect this route as someone going down to London on business needs better timmings than they are offering on the new revised timetable.
On the Jet2 front have we had everything from them for this winter seems loads of gaps in the timetable for the winter services from NCL. Thought Malaga was staying for the winter?
Thanks

HH6702 Excel have as yet not decided on what kind of programme they will offer for S08, if any. Most of the flight released so far are operated by third party carrier, with only a single few flights planned as XLA. SSH is one of the flights not planned to operate next summer, so it seems there will be vast consolidation, reduction in frequency on the charter front too.
In reference to Jet2, I think that there could be another ski route planned, LYS, SZG or something similar. Their CMF did extremely well last winter and it makes good use of aircraft down time and the routes to such destinations tie in perfectly with the quiet time of year in the 'sun' places with the busy time in the Alps.
Any news on the rumoured German/Italian loco operator?
