Was there a go around for BMI baby from PRG on Tuesday, I guess mid afternoon?
A chap at work was on the flight and he may have exagerrated somewhat.
He said just before touchdown the aircraft went into a steep climb, then circled the airport 5 times.
Was someone a bit slow on departing?
TIA

Well it looks almost 100% that FR are going to start ALC-EMA, makes you wonder if EMA has enough pax to go round.... Or well its yet more traffice for EMA, I can see why EMA is the fastest growing airport in the UK.

But with all this extra traffic and pax, just how well prepared it EMA to handle it. EMA seems to of handled this summer well so far, but next year we will see even more Ryanair traffic just can it manage without increase checking area, more security and bigger ramp space..... Anyone know if EMA has plans to match the increased rapid growth........?

The same was said about MAD-EMA, it's not just holiday makers,, its people who have a second home, and friends and family visiting them aswell. Im sure it will be one of our most popular routes in no time.

I say bring on PMI and AGP in the spring, and OPO.

I agree about OPO... but im not sure that Palma and Malaga will be good for other airlines, Thomsonfly operate about 6 flights to Palma and 2 flights to Malaga, also with all the other Charter Airlines and bmibaby and easyjet to these destinations I think Ryanair will be trying to get into a market they will most likely not win at in my view...

Palma already has a great number of flights from EMA so I dont think that might be seen for a while here...

The airline with the lowest costs has a nasty habit of winning. This has happened in countless european markets over the last 15 or 20 years.

However on the Palma route for the time being Charter Airlines will have a better pax and more people will consider flying with them insted of a Low Cost Airline.. and for that matter Ryanair

Are you sure about that?
Have you seen the baby loads to PMI?
Don't look particularly low to me !
Maybe 5-10 years ago, the only way that a holidaymaker
would consider going to PMI would be by buying the whole package and going
"charter"......
Not any more, in these enlightened days of booking of the internet/

Yes thank you for your lovely comments

And... Bmibaby's Palma flight has a good pax number which does suggest that it is doing well no?... However I dont think that another 3 - 4 flights a week with Ryanair will be able to sustain this route... Therefore it would be foolish of me not to put how i feel about the issue on here

With:

6 Thomson
3 My Trave
2 First Choice
2 Thomas Cook
8 Bmibaby

flights a week there wiill be a shortage of pax I think for more flights to Palma... even if people ''Do have second homes''

Look at the pax numbers on all these flights. I think you'll find they are very successful. How many flights did TOM do last year and how many are they doing this year? Basic supply/demand, if you have the right prices more frequencies can be sustained.

Whilst all this expansion by airlines is great for EMA, IMHO there will have to be some consolidation at some point as there are only so many passengers to go round - I think EMA has to be very careful about letting FR go too far, expansion into unserved markets yes, expansion to compete in markets where demand exceeds supply yes but expansion into markets already well served by others, hmmmm, you don't want to become a one trick pony airport now do you?? If Baby and Easyjet can't stand the heat (and lets face it, FR has a good track record of scaring others off when they start competing on a route) i'm sure the runway down the road at BHX will look ever more attractive...........

Back to the 'rumour' stuff... the whole TCX-MYT and FCA-TOM. Rumour has it we at ema are destined to have a based B787 from autumn next year
First Choice don't get their first 787 until Feb 2009 so fair to say that's very unlikely

Hope you're right... Been to PMI several times from EMA, but seeing as I'd not give O'Leary any money even if he ran the only airline on the planet, I'm relieved that there's plenty of other choice on EMA-PMI.

Great comment, I totally agree with this. I'm sure EMA would prefer to give customers more choice over airlines they choose but having seen what ryanair have done at other airports and competing with other airlines and when there is only so much demand a route can take then like you said we may see more routes moved or started from BHX...

Totally agree with your comments. EMA has to be very careful or they will end up with all their eggs in the one big FR basket.

There is competiton then there is saturation.

If bmibaby or easyJet were going to consider moving there aircraft to BHX or even DSA for that matter, (I know there was some talk of that a while ago), they would have announced it and moved by now, afterall Ryanair are putting there 6th Aircraft here this winter...

But yes you never know, still might happen, more likely with bmibaby!..
