SimJock you made one complaint about a pair of departing falcons. My problem with that is that as you speak of yourself as being a pilot you should know that sometimes due to safety reasons, ie separation, pilots and ATC have no other option but to overfly sensitive noise areas.
As a pilot you should realise that the falcons fly with heavy external pods that produce alot of drag, to overcome this power is required in climb out!
If you want to experiance noise you should move to the Leeming Teesside gap. Here you get low flying (down to 250ft) military aircraft, alot noisier than falcons. Also MME inbounds and departures and Leemings inbounds and departures. Although Leeming is quieter these days night flying was always noisy before the F3s left. Be thankful that MME is there, as if it closed the MOD would alomost certainly look to increase the size of the low fly corridor and so you would have alarms going off on a more regular basis! If you don't like it MOVE.

And on that note has anyone heard anything about TNT moving back? There is a little hint of it on the TNT thread in the Freight Dogs forum about the engineering downroute bases being re-opened as it's been a disaster without them.

You might not like the noise SimJock but you have to admit they look impressive flying as a close pair.
They land over our house every day virtually and never fail to impress. We had two Turkish 737's, landing 2 hours apart mind you ,over last summer and they were lower than the Falcons. They were doing a sharp left turn over our house presumeably to avoid SAMs and that wasn't called for. It wasn't the noise really that annoyed me it was the look on the passengers faces.

Looking at the acars, MME seems not to have been considered. Even NCL seems to have been third choice for some.

Depending on the regulars, I bet you could squeeze all of them in somewhere.

DTV redundancies?
my little mole tells me the credit crunch has started to hit the airport with redundancies announced in various departments. Any one have more information ?
I know things have been pretty poor lately but not good news at all.
Will this effect the way the airport is planning for the future?
Or this the beginning of the end ???

Nothing on the Peel website at the moment but I found this and think it sums up the company.

more bad news for MME
As an ex baby pilot at MME (who misses the place a lot, MME not baby!) i am always sad when things head South, but i gather the man who must be called Capt William has said the ERJ & route will be gone by April.
and more bad news
Not only the london route, but probably the airport at this rate.
Airport closed most of yesterday due snow and lack of equipment/manpower to clear-again!! and also last couple of days not even enough ATC staff to keep it going closures announced for the last three days.
Looks bleak???

The BMI route is completely useless for access to Heathrow OR Teesside on business. I am flying up next month on a BMI ERJ-135 and the timings I had to struggle with were awful. This route is CLEARLY a slot sitter as no one interested in serving MME-LHR would ever have these timings. What a joke.
The ERJ-135s are coming out of LHR I believe so end of the line as a once succesful route is killed by it's own airline.
I'm booked for the 1st and 2nd of April. Will I be flying? Keen to try the ERJ-135 as the BMI ERJ-145 from ABZ-LHR last year was "cosy" !
