Sunday Times

T2 Office - while Monarch may be in a rather healthier situation today than it was 12 months ago, one should remember that it was far from guaranteed that Monarch would be around in 2015.

What goes in the business section of the sunday papers is frequently rumour based, but those rumours quite often have a basis in reality. If I was working in a behind-the-scenes role at Thomas Cook Airlines, I'd be getting a little nervous about my future.

Had to laugh at the Birmingham Mail.

Thomas Cook holidaymakers flown to Tenerife by first father and daughter pilot team - Birmingham Mail

"Miss Elliott, 30, from Birmingham, who has notched up 2,500 miles since joining Thomas Cook in 2009".

Glad you got back in Laura, although the story given to the press is not entirely true.

Something definitely going on here. Major buy out on the cards....????
That is 30M+ shares over the last couple of weeks in VERY BIG CHUNKS.

Thomas Cook has a market capitalisation of 1.8 bn pounds. A trade for 6m pounds is nothing that surprising after a major news announcement - possibly an institutional investor like a fund manager or a hedge fund taking a punt on the company's future.

If a £6m trade was considered highly unusual, the share price would start jumping around to reflect the possibility of a secret buyer of stock. The share price over the last week has barely moved

When a new investor appears on the shareholders register holding 3% or more of the company's equity, then it's more of a conversation piece...

Invesco have made several large "buys" over the last couple of weeks, £8m £20m and the recent £5m. Prior to the recent £5m buy they were holding 15+%.

EasyJet bought GB Airways back in the mid to late 2000s, do they still have appetite to swallow airlines operating to holiday destinations?

I personally don't see it happening. EZY had A321's for a couple of years after they took over GB airways but chose not to order any of their own, instead just changing orders from A319's to A320's. Plus TCX also have their 752/753/763 (I don't think the latter two types are due to be replaced too soon) and a growing long haul operation, neither of which are going to appeal much to EZY (in my opinion...).

Still no news on the sourcing of the A320's for this Summer. Something must be signed and sealed somewhere ?

There will be a Smartlynx A320 for BHX and a Avion Express A320 for MAN, not sure about where the others will be sourced from.
