Kemble

I understand that a ILS will be installed soon, any news?

As an aside, I saw two 747's parked up, last week, was one of these the ex Dunsfold film studio aircraft?

Passing by yesterday, I noted an ex-Styrian Spirit Canadair 700 lurking around near where the first 747 is being broken up. There are still 9 146s/RJs in storage too.

The Rj's are all white tailed.

Who owned these expensive assets. The all have blue engine covers on, so I assume sill powered by the hour, and thus still flyable.?

Is the cafe in the fire station still open to the public, had to settle for the cafe inside the main gate, which I think is opposite the mae west repair shop.?

Yes, the AV8 Restaurant was alive and trading when I popped into Kemble on Weds pm.

The 747 on the scrapping area is ex-European (but not the Dunsfold machine), the other one is ex-Atlanta (TF-ARG) and was only flown in for scrapping a few weeks ago. They are both ultimately ex-BA 747-200's I believe.

Quite a few of the 146/RJ's were being worked on over at Chevron, so perhaps a few will be leaving soon.

That Austrian CRJ (a 200 for sure, not a 700!) looks far too new and smart to be scrapped....more likely for storage?

Jet Star also

In the distance I saw a jet star, not certain if 4HP or 2HP.

Was not able to get over to tower cafe, perhaps next time , more time, and no screaming kids.

The CRJ200 is an ex Austrian Arrows example & is present for breaking up.

The Jetstar is reg'd N25AG & is for breaking up whilst the Avro's are stored pending a new customer.

Kemble regulary see's arrivals by Bizjets/bizprops along with the heavier stuff which usually arrives for storage/breaking but would these few movements be enough to warrant the cost of an ILS (& associated ATC/navaid upgrades) as Kemble is still mostly, a large GA field

Never ceases to amaze me where these rumours come from. There are no plans for a ILS at Kemble................GPS approach, maybe, but not ILS.

You couldn't use an ILS wthout full ATC rather than FISO anyway.
Yes I know Walney Island has ILS and FISO, but the ILS is only available to 'company' aircraft and the airfield is unlicenced, so it's a different situation.
