Old Bristol Freighter
Gosh ... that brings back memories.
The new baggage allowance is effective 23 September 2009.
The current allowance in Premium Economy is 2x32Kg and this will be reduced on that date to 2x23Kg.
They do not state if they will honour the baggage allowance applicable at the time of booking so I would suggest that you e-mail Virgin Atlantic and ask for confirmation that the baggage allowance will be that applicable at the time of booking as this forms an important feature of your contract with them.
Best of luck.

Guys I like the way you are thinking re Virgin basing a unit at Belfast. However, I think any operator who would do this would need maximum connectivity in the states to make it a real success. Continental quoted stats for operations ex Dublin (where there are far more US destinations than from BFS or indeed most UK airports) and they (if memory serves me correctly) said that 45% of traffic is interlining in EWR meaning that almost half of the passengers are going onward.
Aer Lingus (due to tie in with Jetblue and 1 ticket) or any large american carrier is best suited.
But more than that at the moment I think that we need to preserve CO's link to EWR especially since news came last week that BRS is being axed and any erosion at BFS could spell the same fate for the service?

BBC News - Virgin and Cathay face OFT price-fixing probe
Is this BA getting their own back on Virgin through a close OneWorld partner?

Virgin opened the can of worms ...
lets hope Virgin get taken to the cleaners now - if they thought it was clever to 'dob' in another airline for price fixing, surely they had to be 'whiter than white' ...
From what i hear, the volcanic ash has hit virgin hard (financially) .... as 49% owner, I bet Singapore Airlines are looking forward to sharing the fine and the losses

Virgin Price Fixing?!
Virgin Atlantic Price Fixing: Branson's Airline Accused Of Colluding With Cathay Pacific | Business | Sky News
Virgin Atlantic Accused In Price Fixing Probe
Share Share Comments (1)2:13pm UK, Thursday April 22, 2010
Hazel Tyldesley, Sky News Online
Sir Richard Branson's airline Virgin Atlantic will be grilled over alleged passenger fare price fixing with rival carrier Cathay Pacific Airways.
Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific both fly between London and Hong Kong
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has issued a "statement of objections" detailing suspected breaches of competition law in relation to London to Hong Kong commercial flights.
It said the matter was brought to its attention by Cathay Pacific under the OFT's leniency policy, where a company which is the first to report its participation in cartel conduct may qualify for immunity from penalties.
Provided it continues to co-operate, Cathay will be immune from any penalty imposed in this case, the OFT said.
A number of alleged contacts between employees of the two airlines over several years will be investigated as part of the OFT probe.
These meetings allegedly had the aim of "co-ordinating the parties' respective pricing strategies regarding passenger fares through the exchange of commercially sensitive information on pricing and other commercial matters".
Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific alerted the OFT to the case
The OFT said The 1998 Competition Act prohibits agreements, practices and conduct that may have a damaging effect on competition in the UK.
Ali Nikpay, senior director of cartels and criminal enforcement at the OFT, said: "For a market economy to work effectively, it is vital that competing companies determine their pricing strategies independently of each other and do not seek to avoid the rigours of competition through unlawful co-ordination.
"The parties will now have an opportunity to respond to our proposed findings before we decide whether competition law has, in fact, been infringed."
Virgin Atlantic has previously blown the whistle on price fixing with British Airways over long-haul passenger fuel surcharges.
As it approached the OFT first, Sir Richard Branson's airline was granted immunity while BA paid a penalty for breaching competition law.
In the latest complaint, the OFT's "statement of objections" gives notice of a proposed infringement decision under the Act to the parties involved.
It sets out the facts on which the OFT relies, the objections raised by the OFT, the action it proposes to take and the reasons for it.

On the details given I find this a strange move by CX. Virgin have tentacles far and wide, including via SIA, CX may just be the ones with egg on their face in the end. We live in interesting times!

Virgin says it will defend itself robustly. But reports say that Willy Boulter is at the heart of the allegations. He was Commercial Director at Virgin after previously working for Cathay. He was also named in the court documents for the BA price fixing case, and is currently employed by IATA. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say if he is called to give evidence at the criminal case against the four BA managers at Southwark Crown Court shortly.

MAN-MCO 2011 Schedule
Apologies for a newbie question - but does anyone know why the VS075 service (MAN-MCO), still shows a departure time of 10:25, but has an arrival time of 15:50 on the 2011 schedule (as opposed to a 14:20 arrival time now)?
Many thanks for your help!
