'gateway' to Australia??

Hello all

Not sure if this is in the correct forum but i figured 'routes' was a good bet.

Basically i am looking at booking a flight to Australia...in the 'via' column some flights say 'gateway'. Please excuse my ignorance here but is this an airport ifso where is it as i have never heard of it before!

Many thanks in advance

I think you will find "gateway" is a term for gateway city, If you don't book a direct flight you can choose which gateway city you can go via....i.e Hong Kong or Los Angeles for example??

I hope this will help you,

Monkey.

Ah that would explain it.

So presumably if im picky with which gateway city i want then this may affect the dates on which i will be able to fly?

Many thanks for the help
