Exceptionally optimistic, blinkered ostriches is my unfortunate opinion of a lot of Britannia crews. Not meant to be rude just as I see it.

If I may please correct you, TUI UK HQ are still based at Columbus House I and II, Westwood Business Park, Coventry. Thomson, and Thomsonfly, have now moved all their operations to Wigmore Place, Luton.
TUI UK is not soley at Coventry either. Coventry mainly has the old Lunn Poly business and much of the new media part of the business. Everything else whether TUI UK, TUI NE, Thomson, Hotels Division, Marketing etc are all in Luton.
If you have to correct people on here, please get your facts straight!

I also sincerely hope that in their apparent rebranding craze, TUi decide to get Wigmore House up to date, with some references to the TUi company as a whole...as I believe my second point about TUi being unknown on this little island of 60 million potential clients is still valid.
The signage outside states Thomson, the ground floor entrance states "Thomson" on the second floor, and the second floor reception greets you with "Thomson" in big red letters...the only TUi reference is the smile. At least at Coventry the headquarters are branded as TUi. That is a fact!!
Needless to say, wherever the HQ might be, is completely irrelevant following the news that so many hard working people will be requested to leave the company.

As a pretty much outsider to this too (apart from knowing an ex-colleague who I expect would quite like to know what is happening to the company he currently works for), I find this rebranding mullarky quite baffling,not to mention a presumably large waste of scarce aviation money spent on endless aircraft repainting, advertising and consultancy fees. I think it's reasonable to expect that if you took a straw poll of Joe Public and asked them if they knew who Brittania as a brand was, compared to TUI, it's a safe bet most people would think Brittania was/is going strong in it's own right, and not know who the hell TUI was. I'm not saying don't refresh and innovate, but if you must do it......
.......do it right, do it once, explain it effectively to all your staff on the Monday and then launch in a blaze of publicity on the Tuesday.
If I ever call my ex-colleague at work I always refer to him at Brittania, never Thompsonfly, primarily because when I say 'Brittania' people know what/where/who I'm on about.

You can add the Lunn Poly travel agency brand to that. Lots of people (and I do mean LOTS) used to consider that a blue chip agency, up there with the Thomas Cooks and whatever.

How very true Lunn Poly was the brand to follow always up at the front and what they did others did very shortly after them
I just find it a terrible shame that an airline once seen as Top notch airline with a very prominent name known by anybody in the UK as a great reliable company is now being bought down with a meaningless name and terrible/cheap looking image
G-I-B ( ex competitor in the retail market and business travel )

According to the Bristol thread an announcement will be made in the end of Jnauary. (Post 55, Bristol-3)
They currently have one 757-200 based at BRS and the rumour there, wich I have also heard is that they may add an extra 757 to CWL, to bring their fleet to 1 763, 2 757 and 1 733. This although just a rumour would be good news for CWL and bad for BRS, and will furhter show the consolidation of routes on the TOM route map. With the expansion of EZY, FCA, XLA and others BRS looks like a bad place to be for TOM, from a competition point of view. With CWL losing XL, there will also be a greater area of oputunity for TOM, and their low cost TUI ambitions. So a smart move by TOM
Wouldn't be a surprise - TOM are closing some of their other smaller bases - LBA and MME. However I would guess they would still offer holidays from BRS if this happenned and possibly operate some w paterns into BRS

I've heard this too - although from summer 08. Must be getting particularly tough at BRS on the bucket and spade routes with the competition from EZY & XL and of course FCA starting up some interesting routes - also likelyhood of TCX basing aircraft at BRS in 08.
Why be a smallish fish in a biggish pond when you can be a big fish in a puddle! They can still buy seats of other carriers at BRS.
Good news for CWL if this does happen with a good chance of some more exciting routes - I suspect that they are looking to become completely dominant at CWL and put a dampner on MYTs plans to base year round and bring back their second unit in the summer for 08.
Of course this might all turn out to be bum gravy!

nothing has been said yet about BRS in particular however what has been said is that no aircraft will be based at LPL, MME, LBA and that the GLA base will be slimmed down. The company will be reviewing shortly all the bases with less than 2 based a/c so that'll include both BRS and STN.
A fairly good grape vine is saying that the 'Brit' wont be at stansted next year.To do with the cost of their crewroom methinks.

Thomsonfly at EMA
Hi Everyone, Hope you are all O.K. I was wondering if any of you knew what aircraft Thomson were basing at East Midlands this summer because of a project im doing. I overheard someone say a B757 and there was to be 3 aircraft but im not sure what other aircraft there will be. Does anyone have any information on this case. Thanks

Welcome to PPRuNe oliema, there will definately be at least 1 B737 but I don't know whether it will be a 300 or 800 variant, but as far as know it will be 2 B757s and 1 B737, but will someone please correct if wrong.

Thomson Says Big
Thanks, Its great to get talking. I can remember when Thomson had 2 B757.200 and a B767.300. That takes me back; only 2 years. But i hope it is a B737.300 atually because with Ryanair and all there B737.800 it would be a shame to see them in different liveries. And the B737.300 is small and snug. Even though its quite old.

Does anybody what aircraft will be based at BHX this summer? It has been a really quiet winter and with alot of initials being made permanent this year people's rosters have been incredibly quiet (someone having no rostered flights at all in January)

Just read that the first brand new 738 arrived at LTN late last week. It will be LTN based and was due to operate it's first commercial flight today on the LTN-PRG sector.
