...rumours from within Thomsonfly are for the B737-800 and -900 to replace all B737 and some B757. The B787 is favoured to replace B767-200 and -300, and remaining B757.
A two type fleet has been mentioned as the most efficient and economical option...
This isn't just for Thomsonfly UK, it's for the entire TUI fleet - so expect a large order with substantial savings on list prices

Just looking at some of the specs from Boeing:
http://www.boeing.com/commercial/787...ackground.html
Seems the 787-8 is the would be the ideal replacement for the 757 as it appears to carry around the same amount of people (Thomsonfly 757 = 235 pax). But with a max of 250 seats, wouldn’t they have to have to look elsewhere for a 767 replacement, especially the -300ER? According to the Thomsonfly site, that carries 315 with premium (328 without). The 787-3, although can carry more pax, doesn’t appear to have the range of the -300ER.
Wouldn’t the 787-8 require reduced capacity on some of their long-haul bucket and space routes?
Mind you, as you say, they have already started introducing the 737-800 into the UK fleet, so I guess thats the future of the fleet (or part of it at least).
Cheers,
eP.

Hey Easypilot! Word from within is that TOM are taking seats out of the 300's in time for the coming winter - not been said how many yet. So a reduction in capacity by the delivery of the new aircraft should be, in thoery, almost equal. Not sure about the range of the 787 but our main destinations continue to be the caribbean so should be able to do that. All, correct me if i'm wrong, east bound destinations i.e. Thailand, Sri Lanka, Goa etc will have a tech stop in Abu Dhabi from this winter so they will not be a problem.
Totally off the subject but next winter TOM are operating a MLE flight for MYT every sun but MON are doing it for Thomson. Any ideas why? Is there more money doing flights for other companies other than your own ?

Hi
Just had a look on the TUI cargo website and it says this flight at the moment is operated by a 737-300 but over the last couple of weeks I have noted this service is operated by a 767-300.Is this website accurate enough then to see what aircraft type you will be using?
Many Regards
Michael

Thomson fly to YUL
Hello all.
Does anyone knows what Thomsonfly is using for its YUL-LGW Sunday flights. I've heard A330 but I can only see 757 landing so...
Thanks.
Cheers

KH has been at GB for a short time now but is already making positive changes to an airline that needed a good 'kick up the butt'.
I for one am pleased to have someone like him onboard and am very excited about our future under his management!

Thats great news that Maurice is going! Ive worked for Britannia for years now and since he took over/name change also! the company has dropped. The idea of a low fares airline... how can we compete with the likes of EZY and FR?
First choice are towering above us and they seem to be doing so well.
So lets hope are new Md has ideas of getting us back on track. if the company would like a tip! "get rid of them 737s their older than me".!

Thomsonfly don't operate to YUL. We did a few flights there over the winter for some cruise companies but not ths summer. Maybe Thomas Cook? Easily confused between the two!
I know it is getting to be a cliche', but that recent quote keeps coming back to mind.
"Thomson. Like Ryanair ... but smaller"
Our image has gone down the pan in a few short years.
I was pleased to hear that our callsigns were changing (again) but the latest version isn't quite what I was hoping for and actually makes it even harder. Oh, and Stokholm radio put me through to TOPJET ops by mistake. Took quite a while to work that one out!
(PS On the longhaul in-flight video they advertise our own flights with ads for ThomPson)

Kevin Hatton
Kevin stayed on after the restructure of Tui UK and originally was supposed to leave June 04, Kevin asked to stay on after the restructure to bed in the new organisation taking him to Sept 05.
However the restructure resulted in the usual power battles at Tui board level, that has resulted in a number of director changes since the original restructure. Lee Oremsher out, Miles Morgan out etc.
I know personally he wasnt a supporter of some of the changes, some of the UK board members and their conduct.
The business will be worse off without him.

TUI UK Board member changes
Halcyon Days
He wasnt a supporter I of some of the UK board members and their conduct. Hence a number of subsquent board member changes since then, Maurice Boyle, Lee Ormesher and Miles Morgan all gone.
Its worth bearing in mind when the original merger of the UK companies was concieved that Kevin was only staying to mid 04, then he extended to 'bed in' the restructure until Mid 05.
Another aspect to bear in mind, is why look for painful cost reductions that affect unions, when TUI UK has seperate call centres around Europe and waste money on expensive ticket production.
Regards
Please dont ask
