Makes a lot of sense. The States of GCI can't afford to underwrite the Embraer and the required fleet of 6 Dorniers to replace the Trislanders.
This solution allows two Dorniers to be affordably acquired to protect ACI SOU whilst the GR financial contribution to SI's inter-island operating costs will help them, although the ATRs are frequently full so maybe the proposed two additional daily rotations will not be sufficient.
Aurigny benefits as well from the acquisition of the handling of all SI flights in JER and GCI, permitting SI to dump the dreadful service they get from Menzies and Servisair in the islands, each of whom gives a preferential service to Flybe. These handling agents will now be able to concentrate completely on providing BE with a service which has no distractions.

Better to share than further dilute the route. The market is not huge but essential and as its outside the EU does not qualify for a PSO. However the upside does mean a reduction in need for 18 seat aircraft. So replace the Tris with just a couple of 228. One based GCI and one ACI these would then cover GCI-DNR, GCI-ACI and ACI-SOU.

I don't think ACI-SOU is at any risk as it was AUR's second best performing route. The problem AUR may have though is during Alderney week. They may have to charter in additional 228 capacity to cope.

I just saw that ch-aviation quotes FLIGHTGLOBAL that Aurigny plans to buy two or three Dornier 228s after successful trials with the Dornier 228 leased from Portugal. Anyone in the know if that means newly built examples from RUAG or second hand stuff?

Limitations
Could the Aurigny pilots help me understand the limitations that caused delay then cancellation of the Stansted flight (and others) yesterday the 23rd. Obviously the weather was foul and the crosswind was a culprit but this was 30knots give or take all day and I thought this was just about ok. Indeed several Aurigny ATRs landed during the afternoon and a blue Islands atr 42 also landed although they had two goes. A couple of the flybe dash 8s came and went.
Given there were some landings and the plane was at the airport all day I don't really understand why our Stansted flight couldn't get away. Mind you I don't imagine it would have been a comfortable ride had we gone.

Another fool of the travelling public that's blinded by the facthe has booked a ticket to fly instead of thinking about the bigger picture.
I was more than happy to be on the ground yesterday, the ATR72 has a crosswind limit of around 28 knots on a wet runway and even then it still not easy!

He's not a fool he asked a sensible question as to why some operations continued as normal whereas some were cancelled with a view to understanding the logic behind it. Play the ball and not the man. At Christmas, plans are almost sacrosant and , a sensible ploy is to let people understand "why".

Dornier
Anyone know when the Dornier's are going to be ordered? It seems the Tri's are scheduled to be retired this year and as far as I know the Dornier production line isn't the most responsive.

The last I heard was that they would look to get used aircraft to start off with.
As the "new" 228 is not in continous production they would wait until an order was placed by another operator and tag on to that.
