Ryanair - New Routes ? New Bases ?

Hello !

Could anyone tell me what the latest rumours are for Ryanair's expansion plans ?
I'm starting with them in February.
And I'd like to know what the prospects are for openings closer to home...

I'm a Belgian national. So Charleroi is very interesting of course.

Must say that I have heard rumours about bases opening in Eindhoven or even Maastricht.
Who can confirm these plans ?

And if the rumours are true, when will these expansions start ?

Many thanks !

Re: Ryanair - New Routes ? New Bases ?

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on Ryanair showing various arrivals/departures @ Stansted to/from Amsterdam today??? All of which say "contact airline" or "cancelled". I can't see how Amsterdam would be an option for Ryanair ??? What ever next FR on the LHR - CDG route ?!?!

Interesting I wonder if the 2 new FR aircraft sitting idle in Dublin have anything to do with it. Boeing strike of course, at least that's what the Irish media feed us.

Trying to figure out Ryanair's plans in advance is about as productive as trying to access the Vatican's secret documents.

Re: Ryanair - New Routes ? New Bases ?

Ryanair have said that if their new Dublin-Humberside flights do well, they will open more routes from HUY. Barcelona GRO is widely expected.

Re: Ryanair - New Routes ? New Bases ?

Umm little confused with the above post.

MJV- FR destination
PSA- FR destination

FCO- FR Alternate! Try CIA

ARL??? That's -- Arly, Burkina Faso. Some how don't think that's gonna be a destination quite yet.

And I don't think Arlanda will be a destination either.

Surely 16 cancellations and only up as far as 10:55 isn't right, or means something has gone seriously wrong ???

And has anyone come up with an answer as to why Ryanair for the last week have been showing 3-4 daily departures/arrivals to/from Amsterdam on the flight boards @ STN (see first FR departure above)???

Anyone at Ryanair care to share???........

Meanwhile Luton's departures screen is showing no Ryanair departures at all for the morning. Curiouser and curiouser...

What ever FR say is the reason behind these cancellations, we all know it will be lies. Blame Boeing, blame the airport, blame this blame that. Maybe go read other threads on here about well cheesed off crew members and those who are up to the maximum on their annual flying hours and therefore are grounded. Think you'll find one of those reasons is behind the cancellations.

FR are rapidly losing the plot. They have cancelled annual leave for pilots thinking it will help with the crew shortgage. Wrong.

Now someone tell me that FR is the best airline to work

Is it legal to cancell annual leave and force someone to carry it over to the next year? I thought under EU law the minimum entitlement was 4 weeks. If so, then it can not be refused indefinitely, neither can it unilaterally be paid off. Flying lawyer, or other leagal beagle, care to comment

I know a national company that members of staff (with the agreement of the staff member and the company) can buy 35hours leave, sell 35hours and can take up to 35hours leave into the 'next' year.

Ryanair have not cancelled flights today en masse. That is inaccurate rubbish. See statement from FR. On left hand side of their website press the flight information button. It is generally very accurate.
LONDON (AFX) - Ryanair Holdings PLC has denied a rumour that its flights were subject to widespread cancellation this morning, saying its schedule of flights was operating normally, on time and with no cancellations.
In a statement, Ryanair said the false rumour emanated from one of the London investment banks shortly after 7.30 am.
'This rumour was untrue and could have been verified by that bank, had they made any attempt to contact the airline directly, or had they checked Ryanair's flight information page on their website, which confirmed that all Ryanair's early morning departures from London Luton and Stansted airport had departed as normal and on-time,' the Irish low-cost carrier said.
'Ryanair regrets that such a false and inaccurate rumour would emanate from a respected London investment bank without any attempt made to verify the facts either directly with the company or on Ryanair's website,' it added.
At 9.26 am, shares in Ryanair were 0.17 eur at 7.71.

From Ryanair this morning:-

Ryanair this morning (18th Jan) confirmed that its schedule of flights was operating normally, on-time and with no cancellations. Ryanair criticised a false rumour which emanated from one of the London investment banks shortly after 7.30am, which suggested that Ryanair’s flight schedule was subject to widespread cancellation. This rumour was untrue and could have been verified by that bank, had they made any attempt to contact the airline directly, or had they checked Ryanair’s flight information page on xxxxxxxxxxxx.com which confirmed that all Ryanair’s early morning departures from London Luton and Stansted airports had departed as normal and on-time.

Ryanair regrets that such a false and inaccurate rumour would emanate from a respected London investment bank without any attempt made to verify the facts either directly with the company or on Ryanair’s website.

Ends

18th January, 2006
All Ryanair's early morning departures from London Luton and Stansted airports had departed as normal and on-time...
This is TOTALLY untrue - several flights from both airports were cancelled this morning. Both airports reported few if any queries from passengers so presumably they were all contacted in advance by Ryanair.

No smoke without fire....

Luton & Ryanair

The Luton flight information system crashed during the early hours and so no flights were shown on the terminal's flight information displays or CEFAX or ORACLE after about 1.30am this morning.

However, Ebenezer's comments are correct concerning some of Ryanair's flights from Luton (also from Stansted) this morning.

Looking on Stansted arrivals from 13.00-23.59 there are 24 Ryanair flights cancelled.

Peter,

Go to the BAA website and look up Stansted arrivals for Ryanair cancelled flights. Now go to Ryanair website and lookup flight information for the same cancelled flights. Then you can come back and apologise, or more likely give us some other Ryanair bull**** story.

Is it normal for airlines to apply for a slot for the whole season and then make commercial cancellations well in advance for flights that will not sell. Does this not happen every January ?
