Aurigny ATR72 Fleet

Does any one know why AURIGNY could not find a servicable ATR72 FOR sunday the 20th of NOV??

They had to get international rescue in and scramble thunderbird one and two.

This was in the form of a TITAN BA146 postioning in from Stansted and operate at least the Manchester flight and the second aircraft was ATLANTIC AIRLINES new ATR72, G-HERM.

For those who do not know but HERM is a very small island just to the east of Guernsey.

With AURIGNY having three ATR72 aircraft and most of the time only requireing two aircraft to operate there schedules, you would of thought they would be able to muster at least one servicable aircraft.

To charter in two aircraft seems a major proble as i believe the ATR72 Atlantic was only going to do one rotation to Gatwick, but it did at least two may have even been three rotations then night stoped, and was due to leave Guernsey around lunch time weather permitting, returning home to Coventry unless something else has gone wrong in the Ayline camp of ATR operation .

Having left my warm and comfy bed before dawn to get the 08.30 LGW/GCI and braved the freezing fog and icy roads, I was a bit miffed to be told firstly by Servisair that Aurigny were short of crew and then the aircraft went tech. Eventually arrived GCI sometime after 13.00 courtesy of Air Atlantique.

Well, at least Aurigny gave me a £5 meal voucher

I feel for Aurigny ops, must have been one bad day!!

aurigny had a bad day that day but most was down to simple crew sickness
unfortunaly if your ill you cant fly its all health and saftey.
they did however spend alot of money chartering out aircraft to try and cope with problems

Thank you Cptcoxie but your reply has taken so long

Did the pidgeon post get lost between Jersey and Guernsey??

The reply to the Question was posted the following day i believe,
may i suggest in stead of using the pidgeon just use the radio or send a letter between the islands..

The Shorts does regular mail trips so the mail should get delivered quicker then relying on the pidgeon.

Even Valiant the world war pidgeon got his post quicker than this reply.
