IMOH it l acks the grace of the 747. Tail is massive.

IMHO it lacks the grace of the 747. The tail is massive!

I am all for European aircraft, however it certainly looks out of proportion. Once it has been stretched and the passenger capacity increased by 60% I am sure that it will become a swan. I should also add it will have to overcome US protectionism on the grounds that it "too big, too white, the airline name has an e in it, too noisy (shades of Concorde), etc etc.

Looks much like the colour scheme of the rest of the Emirates fleet, but nonetheless quite nice.

Freaking ugly, as mentioned previously the 747 looks great, the 330 is not too bad either but the 380 just looks wrong. That's not to say it won't be successful, I won't be in any hurry to climb onboard though.

I think it looks good, but not as good as the A330 which is stunningly good with those long wings

I'm afraid I'm of the "if it looks good, it'll fly good" school, and IMHO, the beast doesn't pass that test.

But perhaps it'll grow on me...

On to another point altogether, I'm not absolutely sure of my facts here, but if I'm right, it's rather ironic (or something) that -004 has made its first public appearance in Emirates' colours when the aircraft is destined to go to Etihad.

You also missed that Emirates are a GP7200 engine operator.

Also interesting to see that Emirates got the full colour scheme (including tail), whereas the aircraft on the promo tour wasn't fully painted in each of the companies logos (Singapore, Qantas, etc.)

I guess an Emirates order book of 40 plus aircraft had a fair bit to do with the decision by Airbus to go with the full EK color scheme.

Will be up there too, straight after my night shift - quite a few of us headed over after work.

Hoping to get a sneak butchers at it if it sneaks into DXB under cover of darkness tonight - dunno if that's the plan, anyone got any ideas? Can't just be positioning in from Europe and going straight into the Burj photo shoot can it....?
