British Airways CityExpress

Been advised that yet another announcement is due - on Friday 18th regarding BACX... A possible rebranding to British Airways Regional Europe - BARE - is being considered along with various other catchy but limp names, as well as a new service from MAN - ORD, although this must be ops by BA Mainline surely. Lots of unrest at MAN base with BACX/BAR cabin crews. Crews from around the UK regions being drafted into MAN to cover, as well as covering at other stations to a lesser extent.

Bacx management have only themselves to blame as they never sorted out the cabin crew integration from day one they are looking through rose tinted glasses if they think that come january the 8th or what ever date it is now all crew will be happy bunnies and climb onboard and fly happily together. BAR have to except that its not what it was before ,and embrace the changes BACX crew know they are called the Mexicans because they work for beans, well better a mexican than a soon to be extinct dinosaur!!!!!!

Surely CC from other stations would not come in and do the work of others, as that to would not be good for moral. I can not see ORD coming off as we do not have the a/c to operate an addition from MAN. Perhaps they might rebrand it 'LOGANAIR'.

pwalhx crew working out of other bases is common practice what you have to remember in BACX at the moment is you have two sets of cabin crew on different terms and conditions and the two cannot mix because of this ie.you cannot have an EX BAR crew member working with a BACX crew member also for some reason the two groups cannot mix in a social situation as well!!! as one group thinks its vastly superior to the other on so many levels when as everybody knows they do the same job ask flightdeck wich group they like flying with!!!!

Hey Marlowe

I have been working with ex-BAR crew for a number of years now and I have always found them to be very professional, courteous and a content bunch to fly with. I find them very social people too and I have never heard them make any derogatory comments about our own CitiExpress cabin crew. It is true that their remuneration package is significantly better than that of the CitiExpress cabin crew, but I find that the ex-BAR crew work considerably harder for it. In my opinion they earn their money. Not only do they think they are vastly superior, they actually are vastly superior. So why on earth would you want to contaminate all this vast superiority with the gash Mexicans?

Crazy

Grrr

You can still book the route IOM-LTN for next summer. I guess if they do cancel it, folk will have to use another airport or get a refund!

Arann start twice a day later this month.

What I'd like to know is the BHD - MAN likely to survive in view of the recent Flybe announcement?

Can't se BA touching Chicago from MAN what with AA and BMI on that route...why would they?? Toronto or Los Angeles would surely be a better bet? And with what aircraft??

YYZ is not too likely I suspect - while there is an existing BA presence, landing charges are very high. That said, if they came back and restarted MAN-ORK I would pay a small premium over the usual YYZ-LHR-ORK...

As for aircraft, I presume the 767 refit is nearly done?

Well unles London Airways has undergone a massive change of heart, I ould find any firther long haul expansion from Manchester as astonishing. Would they really base two 763s at MAN? Is there enough room at T3 for another BA aircraft as well as the two AA long haulers?

Is there enough room at T3 for another B763? Your kidding right? There must be more room than ever! They have got rid of most of the BACX fleet out of manchester. There must be an abundance of stands.
Not that I would know now, to be honest. I am up in poxy scotland

BA MAN to JFK is highly profitable, so why would they want to ditch it??? They have no intenion of scrapping the service. I have heard that the new head guy at BA is apparently keen to expand long hauls at MAN though, that could be excellent news for the airport and region if it is true!

Are we sure the announcement of a Chicago service isn;t in fact Cathay HKG - MAN - ORD...????
