I am assuming Loganair are keeping hold of the Dornier for quite a while then if they are using it to create a new base. Does anyone know if this will be painted in the Flybe colours?

I could well be in Suckling/Scot colours or blank if it's coming from that neck of the woods?

ScotAirways disappeared as a brand back in 2008, the Dorniers got CityJet colours then painted white.

Skipness,

That's funny, I was given a Scot branded business card early this year (before Logan took over).

Thumbs up Loganair is 50 years old

Tomorrow marks 50 years since Loganair came into being on 1 Feb 1962.
Believed to be the UK's oldest airline still operating under the original name.
Not bad eh?

Well done all ! Is it continuous though?

I'm sure there was a very brief period in, I want to say 1995 when Loganair were merged into British Regional Airlines. I recall a Twin Otter in BA colours using a "British" callsign. They were de-merged in a matter of weeks/months and sold to the management.
They have certainly bounced back from being downsized to the Islanders and a single Twin Otter.

JSCL just saw this, I meant as brand to the paying customer, the operation was ScotAirways operationally.

That is quite an achievement. I remember the original Aztec at Glasgow in the 1960s, not to mention G-ASUG, the Beech 18. Best wishes to Scott and all his staff.

Skipness, yes continuous. I believe the thinnest period involved one solitary Loganair employee (who is still with us) keeping the name going, possibly around the time you mention.

Surely a few decals or a one off paint job wouldn't have been too much....its a really important milestone. Guess folks might have got the wrong impression that Flybe would have been older than its ten years

OntimeexceptACARS, they do have 50 years of Loganair decals on the Saab at Dundee. They look quite smart.

Every Loganair Saab I saw at EDI yesterday was sporting a rather large "50 Years serving Scotland" decal on the side of the fuselage. Today at EDI they had/have balloons decorating every flybe check in desk and the ticket desk as well as free stickers and pens for passengers (who wish to take them, of course) and a few mugs going as well. There's also some stickers for car windows being given out. So there has been some effort for the celebrations.

No, that's British Airways, which has been operating under its original name since 1935. The ownership was transferred to BOAC in 1940, when the operating name was not used, but still owned by the legal department of BOAC, until 1974, when the original name they had always owned was brought back into use, and with the same shares having been current throughout.

Anyway, congratulations to Loganair for 50 years of being around, even if (like the BOAC period described above) the name doesn't appear as the main fleetname on the aircraft any more.

Surely if the BA operating name was not used, but merely owned by BOAC that does not count as continually operating In that case has suckling airways been operating since 1984?
