Germanwings axes LGW
Germawings CGN-LGW route to be axed with effect Sep. 27. Aircraft will be used for a new CGN-LEJ route.
Surprising development, given that EZY has had a pretty hard time fighting 4U on the route. Whenever I travelled, Germanwings was better booked than Easyjet.

As it appears, the sunday morning flight to STN will be axed as well. 1 instead of 4 LON flights on Sundays.
Any idea how Easyjet will react ? They have not released the LGW-CGN route for the winter yet.
Quite a few U.K. routes that have not worked from CGN by now:
- LTN by HLX
- CVT by HLX
- LGW by Germanwings

I imagine, too many seats (to LON in general), too low fares and too high costs into LGW. Even if they fill 80% of seats it doesn't mean that their yield is sufficient enough to make money.
I've been using them on the CGN-BHX service quite regularly. Loads average 60%. Unfortunately for me, they're changing the times with the Winter schedule and I'll have to go back to using BA from DUS.
