I remember reading The Irish Times, back in oct/nov and there was a column with a small statment from the head of skynet which also said that they planned to be back for may.

Is there any limit on airports which irish airlines except EI can fly to in the states?

re: Skynet

It is up to the US dot as to who can fly to US airports.

Skynet already have permission to fly to EWR, they have also requested permission to fly to BOS.

As they are a SNN based airline, they dont have to abide by the ancient SNN stopover rule as they fuel stop / US emigration stop on the flights from Russia any way.

Willie Walsh going to BA must be good news for Skynet. If WW was starting a low cost X-Atlantic carrier, I wouldn't like to be a Skynet Shareholder.

from CH-aviation newsletter ( March 12th 2005 ):

'Skynet Airlines (SI/Shannon) will lease a single B767-200ER to start Moscow Domodedovo-Shannon-New York Newark flights on behalf of Polet (POT/Voronezh).'

Any news on how they are fixed? Did they keep a lot of staff for the last year? Where are the pilots/cabin crew coming from- Russia/Ireland/US?

from CH-aviation newsletter 8th April 2005:

Polet (POT/Voronezh) has added an ex-Domodedovo Airlines (E3/Moscow Domodedovo) and an ex-Centre-Avia (J7/Moscow Bykovo) Yak-42 to its fleet. It will use the aircraft to operate its planned new routes from Moscow Domodedovo and St. Petersburg to Shannon to feed its planned Shannon-New York service in cooperation with Skynet Airlines (SI/Shannon).

i note that http://www.skynet.aero is now redirecting to http://www.aeroflot.tv(a German Tour Operator specializing in tours to Russia)

So gone is the website with the:

SKYNET AIRLINES PLANS TO RESUME REGULAR FLIGHTS

FROM MAY 2005 TO THE FOLLOWING DESTINATIONS:

FROM SHANNON TO MOSCOW, ST.PETERSBURG, NEW YORK.

Flights between MOSCOW, ST.PETERSBURG and destinations in the USA will be operated by the same aircraft.

Ireland is the only country in Europe whith US immigration preclearance.

This makes Shannon your most convenient gateway to the US!

THIS WEB SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR TICKET SALES early in 2005.

"THIS WEB SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR TICKET SALES early in 2005." maybe not?
